Sorry I don't understand..

this:

is legal or not?

The fact that even the weight is imprinted (66gr)
explains the purpose of the piece.

(I am waiting for the ufficial question post #423)

It's legal. It's really pushing the boundary of the current rules, but it is legal. It is part of a knuckle that you need to function. Just like a full Brass Knuckle would be legal too. It's when the knuckle is modified just to hold more weights and those weights are added. Those weight additions do not perform a function other than weights. This portal cover is needed to allow the Traxxas to even drive.

Ok it is legal, but
No, you don't need this to allow the traxxas to even drive..
You can mount the original one (or other without weight).
I think This is clearly a way to circumvent the rule.
Until now it was possible to forge a piece that resembled a real part.
I think this "portal cover" is far from the real.. gold colour, too.

I think..
why traxxas users can add "legal" weight and other users not?
the rules must be the same for all type of vehicles.
So i ask to legalize all the weight (who like real piece),
or forbid all type.. (cover or not cover).

my 2c.

What they mean 'needed to even drive' is the portal cover this is replacing is required for the truck to drive, if there is no portal cover the truck can't drive. Irregardless if the portal cover is stock plastic or giant brass, if it is one piece, the truck needs it attached for the wheels to even be able to stay on.

The same thing on an axial truck would be a giant 1 piece knuckle out of brass. The truck doesn't need that specific part, but without a part that serves the basic function of holding the wheels on, the wheels fall off.

This may be stretching the rules, but making extra heavy duty parts in full scale also happens so *shrug*

As for the gold color.. easy fix, paint.

Because this is an option. How many 2 piece SCX or Ascender knuckles exist?

That said the Dlux knuckle is fully legal, its not at all scale. But for the same reason, it is a required part of the axle to maintain function. Without a knuckle, the axle is nothing, without a portal cover the Traxxas axle won't work. The rules never say "things must look scale". Because then honestly no Axial transmission would be allowed, nor are divorced transfer cases normal.

This too is legal:

Well those could look kind of scale if you did them up to look like drum brake hubs... ;)

A lot of SCX10s have the XR-mod for improved steering, and most people use brass beef tubes to add weight. How is this different than the brass portal covers?

Would this bed be considered Class 1/0 legal?

This is the final look of it basically:

You would have to consult one of the various Class 0 groups on Facebook for their opinion once you get some wheels and tires on it. Same here for Class 1, can't tell without tires.
