4PK Setups, Tips, Tricks and Help

Regarding setting PL's form Alt to Nor. My understanding is I can get momentary on one of them only, not both.

So I set rear dig to momentary, when I let go of the switch it will reengage the mix?

I'm looking for a way to make it easier on me to not turn off both mixes while on course while I adjust to to the new gear.

I want front dig to stay on until tuned off and rear to be momentary, am I headed down the right path?

As I think it over in my head I believe you are correct. Front dig will not work in momentary with the programming style we use.

I could not wait until after work. I went and grabbed radio and crawler from the car.

I left Prog Mix 1/ Alt on ps1 and set Prog Mix 2/ Nor on ps2.

I get momentary on rear dig "thumbsup" This should help me a lot on course. Thanks for the guidance.

Sounds like you have a pretty good feel for the Futaba style of programming. It can be like spanish to some people.

It was at first. I troubleshoot for a living though so I can usually pick things up pretty quick. I have spent countless hours on the couch sitting next to my wife while she watches trash TV, looking through menus and playing with settings so that I can get as proficient with this as I was my dx3r that I have run for about 3 years.

I can't get mine do operate in this manner, all tho i have 4PK not the S.
If i set it up like that i have to hold the button to have drive on that end.

Could this be a difference between the S & the plain old 4PK?

Just to report in on this. I drove 4 packs through the rig after work last night and the momentary rear dig suits my driving style much better. At no point did I end up with both mixes off.

I may need to do the button mod to PS2 though, it is odd digging for it while crawling in the dark and had 4wd a few times I committed hard to rear dig. Finger was on button, just not pressed in enough.

I noticed that when in reverse, my front wheels are overdriving the rear, I.E., the rear wheels don't turn as soon as the fronts do. It happens to the point that it pushes the rear tires in reverse until I give it enough throttle to power the rear wheels.

Any thoughts on this?
I've tried trimming some different things but honestly I'm not sure what to trim to give the rear wheels a little more juice.
Both motors are Blitz 35T's and the pinions are matched. I'm thinking maybe trying to losen the gear mesh in the back motor but it seems to be OK. I've also rechecked every setting to Harley's screen setups and they are a match.
I'd appreciate any help.

Check your motor timings, springs, etc. Try recalibrating the throttle positions.

Thanks Harley, after thinking about the motors, I was wondering if it was a timing issue.
I'm using a "lay down" brushed motor up front, and a "stand up" bruched motor out back. The theory was that the standup brushed motor would have more torque to fight stall.
Gerame confirmed your thoughts as well. Thanks for the info, it's good to have you here"thumbsup"

@ Harley

I have been struggling to figure this out and it is getting frustrating. I have a servo from a traxxas slash 4x4 and a r603fs and i can not get the thing to come back to center. it will come back close and then just grind away. I checked all linkage and it is free. I believe i have all the rx systems set right for the setup. I have tried two servos and it does the same thing. Any help would be great thanks!

Ok I need some help with my 4pk and novak m2, I tried the one touch program and dig wouldn't engage front or back so I then went to the menu screen, switch on the ps2 changed it to Chanel 3 and made it alt, tried the program again and now only rear dig kicks in if I hit the ps2 switch and disengage if I turn it off, I tried reprogram again and front dig works but not the rear. I tried getting help from novak but haven't heard anything yet. Any help would be appriciated. Also I have my menu screen on level one if that helps any.

hey josh not sure if this has been covered but can i use my spare R603FF reciever with my pk and if so what changes do i need to do if any. i saw in the manual it said something like set the RX TYPE to FASST-C1 and for the R604FS set the RX TYPE to FASST-C2. found it on page 46 in the pk manual. thanks for the help. its gonna be going in my mrc pro so i dont need the 4th channel

I just checked the web site Chris, it is compatible with the R603FF rx."thumbsup"
If you go to the Futaba web site, click on the Radios- 4PKS model you can then click on rx systems. it shows in bold what are compatible. Now get that mini runnin'.

Go to RXSYS, select C1 mode and execute it. Then turn the TX off and then back on. You will see it says C1 in the bottom right corner then. The model memory will remember the mode but you will need to cycle the power of the TX everytime you are planning to switch between a C1 and C2 RX.

I switched from a DX3R to a 4PK and with changing nothing but the RX in the car I've lost some steering. I have the EPA on the 4PK turned all the way up.
I've lost 1/2 inch from before I make the swap.

any ideas?

I do know the DX3R was turned up to 120% on EPA and the 4PK only go's to 100%, Any way to turn the EPA up on the 4PK

on another problem

Im running duel FXR's and the rear motor is still alittle bit slower in the rear with the Bias turned up. What setting is it to turn the front motor down to match the rear?
Im using harleys 4PK set up.
Thanks guys
