4PK Setups, Tips, Tricks and Help

I looked around a little but didn't find any answer, will the 4PK work with the R603FF receiver from the 3PM? If so I might just buy one, but if I have to replace all my receivers it's gonna be hard to justify.

Yes it will.

It shows it working in C1 mode, which just means that receiver is older and uses a little different technology (similar to DSM and DSM2). Now go get this radio!

Finally got my 3pk and 2nd FX-R this weekend. Spent yesterday wiring it all up and learning to program the 3pk. All I can say is, "wow". Once I got used to navigating the menus on the Futaba it was pretty easy. And the amount of things you can program with the Futaba just blows the DX3R away. And with the drop down wheel atachment you can rotate the wheel switches 360 degrees to put them where it's easiest to reach.

I can't believe I've gone this long without a real radio. Thanks Harley. "thumbsup"

I'm glad you are happy with the purchase. Just wait until you get a couple hours of run time on it and get used to the mixing options. Being able to eliminate stall by overdriving the rear is almost as nice as underdriving it to get up an incline. It will not cease to amaze you.

So far I am happy with the purchase. I used the radio for the first time over the weekend with the Zero-T using RS switches and felt much more comfortable engaging dig. After seeing the rotated switch positions on Ken's radio using the drop down I went home and changed mine.

Time to re-wire for dual esc's. :D

This thread is awesome. Thanks for all the tips.
I use my 3PK in all of my RC's (boats, slash, durga, crawler, scaler, etc)
and I think it makes me look like a better driver than I really am (because I know how to take advantage of alot of the features) It sure makes it easy to control a 42mph slash and a 35 mph boat

Here's my setup for the 2.2:
PS2 - dig CH3 alternate, on when pressed and released, dig off when pressed and released (i use this 90% of the time)

DL1 - 3 pos dig switch
DT3 - 3 pos dig

PS1 - press and hold dig switch
PS3 - none

Steering EXP - 0%
Throttle EXP - -100% (for good slow speed control)

here's the setup for the scaler:
DL1 - incremental dial for variable speed winch (ch3) 20% per click
DT3 - subtrim for ch3 to set the drift of the winch 1% per click
same exp as the 2.2

X 1000 for me. This radio makes me look like a much better driver than I am. It also has let me learn a style of driving that I othrwise would never have been able to use.

I am still contimplating doing the winch down suspension and switching my dig setup.

interesting... so a single ESC with dig switches?

No,as such:

Ch 1 Steering
Ch 2 Front ESC
Ch 3 Rear ESC
Ch 4 Winch servo

Still have the adjustable mix on the rear motor. The only comprimise is that the rear dig needs to be controlled by the steering wheel like most people do when using a 3PK.

You couldn't pay me to go back to a single ESC. Well maybe you could but it would be expensive! :D

Harley,

I was so impressed by your overview when I read it last night that I went to the LHS and ordered one today with the steal case which is not in stock yet. I have been using an M8 with a Novak Synthesizer for about 7 years and have finally been convinced to ditch the $1000 in TX and multiple RX's I have collected for all my models over the years. So tell Futaba not only did they sell themselves a high end TX and several RX's but that they took a customer from their competitor.

You are a truly valuable representative of their products and services.:-P

Thanks,

TL

I had not seen that one yet. I know they know we are here though, and Futaba is working for us crawlers ;-)

Gonna have to call on that tomorrow.

Keep us posted Josh!

Oh and if you remember, ask them when the hard cases will ship. Thanks.

Just ordered a 4PK, short drop down extension and an angle adapter. Will have to order a case for it soon, too.

Now have to sell my spare 7 Spektrum receivers....lol.

Harley....this radio better be good.....or else you will hear about it at Omaha....lol

It is that good, I am certain you will be begging to buy me a beer in Omaha to thank me :D

MAke sure if you have any setup questions, you ask them. Getting familiar with it is the most important part.
