This is one of the best looking Jeep builds I have seen! It looks plain awesome. I just read through the whole build (for the most part) and didn't see your overall width (with tires). Can I ask where it sits? I'm trying to plan a build just like this and your's looks just right with that body. I know the axles are 8" but how much do the Rock Stompers add to it?

I ended up ditching the axial axles in the beginning and went with K44 axles to match the body.

I will take track width and wheelbase measurements for you later this evening. Keep in mind though that it's the wheels and axles not the tires that make the width on this newbright body. Soooo...the narrowest I could get this jeep was with RC4WD K44 axles with GearHead RC 1.55 wheels. Any 1.55 tire I put on there including the RC4WD Stompers will look similar-ish.


GearHead RC have the only 1.55 wheel out there with a nice Positive or close to zero offset.

The RC4WD 1.55 Voids ( walker Evans ) have a negative offset, wich makes them stick out further from the fenders compared to the GearHead wheels.

Once you have your wheel choice set then tire choice is a breeze, unless you use Axial axles, then every tire sticks out way way way too far.

The tlt, the d40, Yota, and d35 axles are all close, but the K44 is the narrowest. I have no idea about the mini 44's.

Thanks man! You'll have to pm ser3100 about how he mounted the axial trans as a t-case. I bought the Dinky split skid immediately since I wasn't interested in using an axial trans with crazy mounts.

I wish dinky would make more them, I need another one!

So after reading every single post in this thread tomorrow is the day I start my build of my 1.5 tj! thanks for all the ideas I wasnt going to cut the floor out for a transmission but now I have some great Ideas!

There are some great ones here! Also - you can turn the trans around (spur forward) and move the skid forward slightly and the spur should fit in front of the dash...might still require a little trimming but not too much.

Thanks ill probably just go with the full divorce kit as it is a neater and cleaner more scale option i think"thumbsup"

Yep, E had set the spur-less axial trans on its side and made crazy mounts. Now tht I think about it, he never sent me those in the first place, not sure if it was listed in the ad so I can't ask him for them now. He may be willing to sell them to jeremyfowler. Thanks Brian!

Very true, if jeremyfowler decides not to go with the divorce kit then this would be a great option. I did it on my soft top TJ.
