Codyboy Rebuilds His TRX4 "BULLDOG"

It's been awhile, I really hammered this rig with some brutal falls at the Proline by the Fire event and pushed the front bumper back into the body so when I Get done with my front and rear three link design on my new ascender I will get back to this thread. I have some new ideas for this rig so stay tuned. ;-)

Looking forward to seeing some more of your work"thumbsup" Very interested in seeing what you think about that GRC motor mount.

Ok, I have my ascender upgrade done, and working pretty good so time to move on.

here are a couple photos of the truck after the BY the Fire event, not pretty!

After trying to climb a 25' rock face and tumbling down a couple times we had a lot of bent bumpers and dinged up body.

So time to make some changes and take this rig a different direction. I have always been a bug body lover, and I have been wanting to put together a monster truck. Sooooooooooo this is going to be a monster truckish bug. I'm using a proline yeti bug body. I lengthened the wheel base back to 12.8 and it seems to fit the truck very nicely. These are the shocks I'm going with.

The bungie net went on the ascender.

A little teaser on "Bacon" the painted body.

A 3D motor to be detailed.

There's paint and there's paint, yours is clearly in a different class. I'd lose my mind if that got scratched lol

I will take that as a compliment, thank you! I'm not to worried about scratches, I know the guy that painted it and he paints for me pretty cheaply!"thumbsup"

I'm a big Käfer Fan 8) love this Body.
Which engine are you using? looks really nice "thumbsup"

Why did I think you would have liked VW's? :lmao:
The engine is off a Goodwill (recycle store) find. Was on a 1/8 scale dune buggy toy. Maybe a Ken and Barbie doll rig? ;-)

A little update to my monster truckish VW. Mounted the motor and finished fabricating the front and rear "VW" bumpers. I still need to clean them up and paint.

Put in some MIP stub wideners, extended 4mm both sides front and rear.

That body and paint are so damn cool excellent work.

The F/R bumpers are beyond bad ass and fit that bug perfectly. Never seen that before and love the out of box thinking and fab work. Painted the maroon co,or should tie that whole thing in.

Big and lots of "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

My German isn't so good so translate please!;-) This may be one of the trucks I bring on our CC trip. Pretty sure I could fabricate that logo. but to late now.

Vielen dank ;)

Now puff, puff, pass :ror:

Where are you going to put the flower, Ernie? :ror:

Honestly, though, that looks really sharp...love the color scheme. And the tubing artwork. ;)

I'll put a couple flowers on it just for you! ;-)

Loving the rear bumper! Awesome work.

Thanks, the circle was the hardest part of the whole logo, all stainless steel. I think I'm just going to polish it and leave it raw.

Thanks for the kind words! If you have seen some of my other builds, I love to repurpose and try to step out of the box a lot. Some like them and some not so much, but as a old man I'm past the haters. ;-)
As you can see above I decided to just polish the logos and the bumper parts are repurposed from the old Nuker truck.
I will do some photos later today. "thumbsup"

Great job on the paint as usual, very fitting for a Beetle!

This van came to mind which is done in the style of Larry Watson

Thanks Casey! A few pics of a little more progress this week.

A shop shot.

On the rocks around the koi pond.

A couple flowers for you 2mtech! And a few other decals.

I added some stainless steel rod and tube to the old repurposed Nuker bumpers. Since the stainless looks pretty good polished up I put them to the buffing wheel for a while. This way I don't have to worry about fixing all that chipped paint.

I fitted some chrome lights I had in the parts box, I may light the whole truck later.

I raised the front of the body just a little to give it that aggressive look???

Thanks for looking,

Ernie
