Crawl's 2015 and beyond berg build

What ive observed so far is the light rigs take some serious finessing and work to stick lines. They drive totally different than a mid four pound rig

That's my fear right now. I'll have limited practice time before the 30th ( my first comp of the 2015 season) and worlds. My old rig ( that my wife is now working on ) came in at 4.5. I liked the weight, however so much of it was front end weight. There was no way I could side hill and then dig up the way lighter rigs can. The 4.5 truck was set up well enough that it didn't tumble as much as other rigs I've seen, however the front weight would pull me down and is slide a lot in steep side hill situations. One way or the other, whether it be the new radio, rolling a pound lighter or simply just driving new axles, this is going to be a huge change for me.

If I were you id stick with the rig you know for the next comp and worlds. But to each his own. What was the rig doing right before it tumbles off the side hill?

You could probably tune out what you dont like about it.

Like I mentioned, the old rig didn't tumble as much as other rigs do. The weight would start slides. For instance, at our last comp. Gate 8 was a sever side hill gate. 9 was a 90* right turn down the hill at the bottom. It was a great course design because a lot of rigs rolled through 8 and could have hit 9. I managed to stick through 8 but slid sideways down into 9. Tough to explain but I ultimately ran a killer course. My goal wasn't to build a rig that was a lb lighter that my old one. It's just what technology and progress has created. I do know I won't put a lb of knuckle weight on just to get back up to the weight I was. I just need to learn how to drive with a lighter rig:)

I think you will be ok adjusting. Going to a lighter rig seems like a huge step, but you'll find it's not something that is going to have you "re learning" everything. It will be immediately apparent what it will do now and what it won't do now, and you just need to adjust accordingly. There are no hidden surprises. I went from about 4lb. 10oz. to 3lb. 11oz. and I prefer the way a light rig handles. Everything just feels more connected. You'll do fine my friend.

Thanks homie. I'm looking forward to getting out soon. I'm hung up on the panels. I'm hoping to get them sprayed in between jobs tomorrow. Thanks again for the positivity!

Come on...... It just looks and smells like fear of change and the unknown. How will you know what it's like if you never try it?? It will be fine...... I predict you jump right in and never look back. So what if it is a new feel....... It may feel awesome and you will wish you hadn't worried about it.

Gotta love my kids. An early B-day gift from my youngest at home. It's comforting to have a spare servo for this build. The 7950 on this build was " new out of box" like a year ago on fleabay. It looked new but I didn't crack it open to see. No worries now:)

I wouldnt worry. Dig doesnt work for any rig in RI:ror:. Rock is so grippy and craggy the rig doesnt want to shift off of its line. Kinda like the mega grippy sections of concrete at Rausch with more features and undercuts.

She's finally dressed and ready for our local comp tomorrow. I have a little knuckle weight to put on and shoe up some new tires to break in for worlds. I'm looking forward to putting her through her paces tomorrow.
