Dudley Deadbolt's Adventure Thread by T-money

If you are still running the stock spur/pinion how are you liking them? I have yet to take my deadbolt on a long run and was thinking about changing the pinion to a 10 or 11 to give it alittle more torque.

Once again, it looks great and you are making me jealous with those trails!.

The rocks lights look awesome, can't wait to see it with some forward lights!

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

I have been having a blast with Dudley and to date Dudley is actually the cheapest R/C I own, and has seen more drive time than 90% of them
That makes Dudley #1 in my fleet when it come to money spent Vs fun and enjoyment "thumbsup"

Awesome! 8)"thumbsup"

Made it out again for our weekly trail run. This time out we hit up Mill B South (Lake Blanche)

This trail is 2.9 miles long and takes you up a beautiful canyon to 3 small alpine lakes Lake Blanch, Lake Lillian, and Lake Florence. Due to us running in the late evening we didn't make it to the lakes. Even though it got dark we pushed forward till we logged 2 miles of good driving before turning back. The trail was a lot of fun and had good obstacles spaced out pretty evenly down the trail so their was plenty of fun for a 1.9 scale rig. If you wanted to hit all the hard lines this trail would likely take 4+ hours to complete, so when I have more time Dudley and I will be back to complete this awesome trail.

This was the first time that I really got to see the rock lights in action, and I must say they worked great. Now I just need some forward lights so I can see whats coming up on the trail better.

Of course some pics to share Dudley's adventure

Very nice.......as usual! Love the trail pics too! "thumbsup"8)

I would run the stock ratio...20/87 48 ptich or 13/56 32 pitch work great on my SCX with 3s and did well with 2s.

As Natedog posted the stock gear ratio is about perfect. Gearing down would give you more torque but I wouldn't want to lose the little bit wheel speed that Dudley has "thumbsup"

Another perfect evening tail run. This time we head back to Cecret Lake.

Cecret Lake is another beautiful alpine lake at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon in Albion Basin, just a little ways past Alta Ski Resort. The trail is 1.0 miles to the lake. This time we were a little low on light so a quick trip up and then back down. Dudley's GPs logged 2 Miles on this outing, all without an issue.

Get Dudley's headlamps functional and buy one of these for you so you can hike in the dark. "thumbsup" I have one and it works great!
Petzl Tikka Headlamp at REI.com

I store the Petzel Tikka led headlamp in this Petzel Poche case that hangs on my Camelbak in easy reach.
Petzl Poche Tikka 2 Headlamp Pouch at REI.com

Looks like you had another good hike! 8)

That last pic is hot!

I have a Petzel headlamp that works great. It was our only lighting for a while there, I'd lose Dudley on the trail if I looked away though. Now I can at least find him by the rock lights. That carrying case would be a nice touch too. 8)

Most importantly I need to get headlights and taillights on Dudley, and today is the day. :)

Yep that last one is a goodie. "thumbsup"

Got Dudley out on the rocks again. This time we headed out to Blad mtn for a day of playing with the R/C's. Bald mtn is one of the locations 801rcc uses for a few of their events, it's loaded with tons of ledges and chunky rock to keep and crawler busy for days on end "thumbsup" It also has some great views of the Uinta mtns along with numerous lakes within a few miles.

This trip wasn't a trail run but more of a spot to play for the day. Dudley logged 1.4 miles of distance on his GPS but the tough terrain had Dudley working pretty hard even though we didn't cover much distance.

On this outing Dudley did loose the idler gear in the trans. I installed the Axial steel gear set -ax30708- so I shouldn't have any future trany issues "thumbsup"

As usual here are some pics to share the adventure with Dudley's fans

Fist pics show you what some of the terrain is like (and yes Dudley did make that climb)

Been following this and I just have to say, thank you. What you have been doing with Dudley is exactly why I started into the crawler thing. Just out having fun enjoying nature. You sure do make some of us jealous with the places you have to go though!

And some of the views that we had the pleasure of enjoying while playing for the day

This Picture is sick T-Money.
I plan to do whatever it takes to make it up to the next 801 comp.

On your next trip up mirror lake highway stop at the river at mile marker 20.5 it is on the right hand side headed up the mountain. Its a killer spot to play, maybe even a comp worthy spot. "thumbsup"

Thanks. It's been great getting out with Dudley and I found tons of cool trails and location very close to home. Utah is a pretty cool place to live (for the great outdoors anyway)

Thanks. The next event should be a good one too. It's going to be a blast.
I'll have to check that spot out next time we head up, which should be soon.

AWESOME pics!!!

Thanks. My camera skills are novice to say the least, but I think I'm getting better at finding the good shots.

Cool, they are great lights I just replaced my old dying Petzel for G6...tired of always digging around in my pack for my headlamp when it gets dark and was looking around REI after picking out new headlamp...saw that Poche made for it and wow had to buy it! Looking forward to your lights update.

Oh no!! I need more bandwidth for my photos
I'll fix it tonight "thumbsup"

Yes, that's why I try not to quote too many pics because it raises the bandwidth even more...not too mention this thread is really popular. 8)
