Fat Girl 2.2 scale rock bouncer

What if you make the axial trany a t-case and run the motor with a gd-600 under the "hood". From what i can see in your pictures, it looks like it will clear the passenger side alot more and it seems as if you do have room under the "hood" for the motor.

its just an idea.

i would really like to see a 2 seater"thumbsup"

Could you mount the servo on the chassis and do a BTA setup?

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out where/how I could mount that servo elsewhere. It's ticking me off. Maybe I'll just remove the servo all together and let the rocks steer this rig

You and me both.

I didn't think of a transfer case. Honestly, I don't know where to begin. Any helpful links? I do have the room under the hood, I just want to make sure whatever system I set up is solid, since this rig is going to be run hard!

thats a sweet lookin frame........alotta nice detail

Thanks! And thanks to everyone's positive comments. Always appreciated "thumbsup"

A GD600 idea is BAD! I have a 1.9 scale rig with that GD600 and you will NEVER be able to use the kind of power this rig SHOULD have. Just do your best with the tranny idea you got. It will be a better rig with one seat and a huge powerplant versus some "weak link" and 2 seats in it.

Maybe HPI's new gear reduction would be your best bet. I havent looked for any info on it yet, but there was a quick mention in RCD about it.

All scale rigs end up being a compromise between looks and performance at some point. Especially building an open cockpit rig.

Personally, I'd rather see you give up a little bit of looks to get the right performance out of it. "thumbsup"
On Guido what I did was make the belly pan sit lower than I had originally planned to get the motor low. This allowed me to put both seats in. Perhaps if you do the same thing and have a belly pan hang down just enough to get the seat on top of the motor?

Great rig so far, I love it.

Well i have been looking around for a t-case that someone made for their scaler. If i remember right it was made of two simple gears two pieces of aluminum, 4 flange bearings and two shafts. If a mod or anyone else knows where it is please link us!

here is something i threw together on paint (this computer doesn't have CAD) excuse the hack job.

then you could run the axial tanny under the hood or a chopped r2 like exssesivefire's truggy."thumbsup""thumbsup"

The more I see of this The more I like it. Have you finished it up yet. Can not wait for the end result.

I can't wait to finish it either!

Frame - Currently in the "paint shop" so to speak. Primed and the first layer of the finish coat has been applied. Pics by tomorrow.

Panels - I bought some Tamiya translucent orange and Tamiya gold. The colour looks good, but I may switch to backing it with copper instead. I really suck at painting! I did pick up a 4 foot by 8 foot sheet of lexan for 40 bucks from an industrial plastics supplier. I think I have a bit extra for experimenting with ;-)!

Electronics - just placed an order with JRH for a handwound 540 motor plus some assorted sundries!

Rock rings - Pat (62Pyro) is making me up a custom set to match. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

I'm really hoping to have it finished before the September 6 weekend, as the Canadian National Offroad Expo is that weekend and I hope to have it on display at the lhs booth. Even if it doesn't have the guts in it.

WOW!!! and here i thought we did a great job on 2.2 rig of that truck! i havent posted any pics of what wayne and me put together but ill get some up soon.

Great job! you definately have more time to work on these than anyone i know around here."thumbsup"

Did you find a set of wheels for this build?

I did. I'm going with a set of MSDs with scale center caps and a set of Pat's rings. Ended up being a time and money issue thing on these wheels. Thanks for responding to my PM though, I definitely like your wheels (and own a couple of sets!).

You know the rules, doesn't exist unless there are pics :-P!

Was able to get a good colour match using Tamiya translucent orange (2 coats), backed with Tamiya gold, then Sprint White and finally black. After the gold, I was disappointed with the colour, but the white really made it pop.

The silver on the frame is a PITA! Shows off fingerprints, rubs off easily, etc. Might hit it with a clearcoat, but since it's going to get all bashed up anyways, might not bother. The one good thing is as the paint chips, it won't show up as easily as chips on a flat black finish.

Still working on the hood. This is the most complex part of the body panels, so I want to make sure to get it right!

I found the same thing on my rockracer, the silver really helps the tube work look better for longer as it gets scratched up. A coat of clear really helps with the fingerprints. I used Duplicolor automotive spray paint from Checker Auto parts.

Looking amazing, keep up the great work.

I agree with performance over looks but Can you make a tranny mount to sit behind seats and then run drive shaft in between almost under the seats ?

nice work
