If its for the greater good of humanity, then ofcourse yoga should go away.

Ranovru,
If the idea of religion is wiped out from everyones brain, then what kind of world will come into existence?

But yoga brought about the most awesome thing in the world.....

I just meant it was stupid like religion, not that any greater good would come from yoga going away. It's a stupid fad, but it hasn't interfered with society or the world like religion has.

A much better one. When do we get started?

Here we go....time for another city to burn. Sorry Chicago business owners.

They will burn it all to the ground. I just hope it give the town an enema. I suppose once they find the cop not guilty, it will really get going. Charging the cop is just a political move. From what I understand white cops are allowed to kill 3 black people a month, and beat down at least 10 or they do not get bonuses.

I had some laugh reading the first link ...
couple paragraphs.
The author has combined his personal views with tit bits of information from here and there.

The information that he got is manipulated and misunderstood. Add to that his psycology of seeing it from a point of fear, he is bound to pick things that don't exist. And I am bound to believe what I was told during my life. Neither of us having valid proof for our beliefs.

Religion or society is nothing but a representation of what we humans think as a whole. Our brains are complicated and our inbuilt mechanism of survival instinct is just one of the root causes of the many problems we see.

It seems religions came into existence to structure human life with descipline, compassion and other good rules of thumb to make life peaceful and fullfiling. With passage of time people used religions to manipulate their own gains and thus they became poisonous and complicated to understand thoroughly, giving rise to small groups who have their own concept that they believe is true.

Even if religion is wiped out from everyones brain, later a different religion will come into existence and this cycle will be repeated. The biggest problem is how our human brain functions. If we were able to manipulate our brain by shutting down some of its emotional parts and using advanced technology in syncronise with it, I think we could conquer deep space. But that will make us Cyborg;)

It's scary outside of the bubble.

100% correct.

Genetic engineering is strongly opposed by many. Its scary outside the bubble.;)

Religion is learned/taught, man created it. It's ridiculous to try and tie emotions or brain function to that.

Ideas can be 'un-learned', forgotten or removed from society. That is what we're talking about, although it's highly unlikely it will ever happen.

As to your suggestion that if it were possible, 'other religions would come about eventually', no way to know because we've not had the opportunity since religions were first created. As long as their are people who are 'bad off' there will always be the need to look to something better, even if it is fictional. Then there's education, which I think plays a big role.

If everyone on the globe was educated and content there would be no need for religion, assuming it was wiped from everyone's brain beforehand.

A religious lifestyle is not exactly a bad thing. It gives people a guide for living a decent and moral life. And I think more to the point it gives them something to believe in. Kind of like a Santa when you die to adults.

It is the coddled kids who are flat out destroying America. Give a kid a trophy for participating and when they are older they keep expecting everything. They are offended at anything. They CRY for equal treatment, yet everything they ask for makes the special. They cry for acceptance, unless its them accepting an idea that is not theirs. The episodes that are going on at the colleges right now are nothing more than petulant children throwing a tantrum, and in order to not offend anyone, the schools respond and fire people.

Again I reiterate Southpark has hit it out of the park this season so far.

Gita say, I'm surprised at the outcome of the protest. An actual peaceful protest, & in Chicago(sorry Johnny  ) no less. It's nice to see that.

Still sick & tired of seeing blind hate for cops when this thing happens & ZERO blame for the criminal who brought it on themselves. The common thread in these recent shootings is they did not listen. Don't like cops? That's fine, take it up with them AFTER you listen to their initial orders. That's the real issue with these shootings, lack of respect. It's, at times, ingrained in the minds of these kids since before they even realize what cops are. It's sad, they never stood a chance. I'm not overly fond of cops myself, but I respect them to the highest level. They do a largely thankless job where they have targets on their person each day. Especially the ones in dangerous neighborhoods, I don't know they do it.

There are some physical benefits from smoking ciggs too, but the cons far out way the pros. Morals didn't originate from religion. They are either learned or not from family or society, and carry down through the generations as such.

The santa claus analogy most would write off as just idiocy but it's actually a real issue. Do we really want society to be that dumbed down? A lot of people feel that's unhealthy to go around thinking that fictional things are real. Actually I think there's a medical term for that sort of thing.

I 100% agree with your second paragraph, although it's not really relevant to the ethics/morals/religion debate. Actually coddling is the farthest thing from most religions, specifically christianity. It is however one more example of the dumbing down of society.
