Harley's TCS X-Trail

was wondering what happened with the shorter XTS chassis as I don't see it for sale on the tcs site.

on a similar note, I'm guessing the no shackle leafs aren't getting past the proto-tester stage?
I was hoping they'd come out drilled to fit....

axle steer

hey harley - did you find a set up to eliminate the bad axle steer? I cant even hold a straight line when my x-trail is flexing. I hate to have to limit the travel to near none just to drive straight...

Hi. Im looking at the AX10 with the TCS X-trail for my first crawler build. Im wondering if everything here is all I need to complete it

And will that battery work with the other items?

The battery will work just fine. You are however missing a steering servo, a Hitec 645 is a good starting point. **EDIT** Sorry I didn't see the radio came with a servo.

You should be good.

Any more questions just let me know. "thumbsup"

I run the a 4 link setup using the TCS boomerang and servo plate. I run 90mm shocks and the suspension performs great. You need to limit the stock shocks quite a bit, use a 3/4" piece of fuel tubing under the piston. You have to remember scale rigs do not need a lot of flex, 45 degrees is more than enough if not too much.

Good point, I can't remember last time I saw a 1:1 with 90 degrees articulation....

Hey TCS/Harley

Delrin spring issue:

Rig worked on same set of springs for probably 8 months worth of my abuse (if it can be broke I will break it,lol) till I did something stupid which I wont get into, but lets say no traction bar and carpet dont mix, busted both rear springs. No biggy, my dumb a** ideas and I knew better. The problem though, I bought a new set, got to drive the truck ONCE not even 1/3 of the way through a pack and broke a rear again. Not on the rocks either, i dropped the rig from about 8 inches up onto gravel, did that I dont know how many times, hell the rig fell off the 3 ft ledge and rolled 15ft down a steep hill last year more than once and never hurt it, but this time I BUSTED A BRAND NEW LEAF!!! Question lies here, is there a break-in I missed reading, more along the lines of "dont tdrop your rig or jump off cliffs on the first run"??? I just ordered now 3 more sets (2 2.5s and 1 1.5mm) but dont want to go through them in a month. THis rig is built the EXACT SAME as it was when the leafs first came out and I bought some then (including the weird front ones that work backwards, which are STILL going strong) and the first set was great, 1 set of leafs, maybe 2 in a season/year, I am more than happy there. Delrin is Delrin, it isnt going to change, leaf designs are the same, SO WHERE DID I GO WRONG??? Harley or the other guys that have ran them for a while, HELP,lol.

Thanks.

Actually, there are actually different types of delrin. So maybe the delrin that was used for the second pair you broke was different or had a week spot in it. You can always return the broken parts to us and we'll refund or replace them for you:

We always guarantee everything we make. I don't think any type of "break in" would help. Hope this helps.

I just bought a crawler(ax-10) that came with a slightly bobbed X trail frame.. having NEVER assembled, driven or seen one up close before, hows it look? lol
I wanted and SCX but this, is gonna be way more fun! :)

4drmopar, looks like a good start for a custom project. Yeah, you can pull an SCX10 out the box and have a scaler, but what fun is that! Have fun converting that thing into a kick but scaler. "thumbsup"

well im not sure how old this thread is, but you all have some pretty fancy trucks. im thinking of buying a new ax10 and start makeing it into a scale truck/crawler. there isn't any type of comp's around here, but there is a rocky river bank that i have been looking at that looks like fun.

does anyone know when these chassis will be available again? they have been out of stock on tcs' website for weeks now....
