HH Servo

It would be nice if the Holmes uncased esc's had solder pads where we could direct wire bec's or the shv500 instead of splicing wires. I mean why not? Nearly all of us run something like that.

Anyone have any info yet on an aftermarket or exact fit set of gears for these?
I have one kicking around with busted gears. Not covered by warranty.

Got my replacement middle pin along with a complete gearset and case seals!
Outstanding!
Thanks HH.

Why wouldn't you get a new set of gears from Holmes? Don't get any more exact then that.

...and my HV500 was so good in my bomber I had to buy another one for a future project while at Axialfest.

I busted my center pin and ripped off a couple teeth on the largest gear (out going) in my HV500. Bashing on it pretty hard and smacked a vertical berm at full speed. Have only had the servo a few weeks and expected it to not break this soon. Maybe I got one with a bad pin, dunno. But then again if I hadn't been driving it like an asshole it might not have broke neither! I ordered a new gear set tonight. When I took the servo apart to figure out what had happened to it I noticed it was packed with thin grey grease. What grease is this and where can I order some?

Yep, some moly bearing grease from the autoparts store works very well.

Wanted to shoot an update in here regarding failure modes and rates. Two SHV issues that I am aware of in total, one with poor centering and one that had infantile death cause unknown. Still getting HV500s with middle pins on occasion, to be expected as resellers clear off inventory. Back to smooth sailing and working on more improvements

I've employed a group of locals to help beat these things harder and ensure we get lots and lots of abuse. They can't break one yet, even the proto model I assumed was going to overheat is actually performing stellar.

See estimated 17lbs test rig here. I've already gotten one SHV500 for the front and i'll pick up another in a few weeks for the rear steer, possibly a 3rd if I make the rear first axle steer in the future.

Ran into an odd issue yesterday with my HV500. Thing powers up great and functions fine when under power. However when i disconnect the battery. The servo will only turn in one direction. it's locked up tight. apply power again and it functions like it should.

Wondering what this might be.... any ideas?

I noticed this also with my HV500. With no power i can grab my tires and turn them one way fine, turn the tires back the other way and once it comes close to center it feels gritty and then locks up. Under power there are no issues at all.

Exactly how my BlueBird was with a bent center pin. Turning one way would force the gears together, locking the whole thing up.
