International CXT- Scale Virgin

great start. that body is wicked cool

Thanks"thumbsup"

what have you used to braze the steel do you use mapp gas ?
and what solder do you use

I'm following the brazing guide below as close as I can. It is a video put together by Double J, great info"thumbsup" I use MAPP gas with Safety-Silv 45 silver alloy and Stay-Silv flux as recommended.

Stay tunned for PTO winch pics:twisted:

The leaf springs are 1/4" wide and around 5" long before compression. I made them from pull cord recoil spring from a Stihl backpack blower.

Hope that helps"thumbsup"

It does help, I'll have to see now they hold the weight of your rig, I know the CXT body's are not small, being just over 26" long. How did you get the springs to keep the shape you wanted, and not the original shape?

26" long? Sounds like you have the large version 1/6- 1/8 scale. There is two sizes produced by New Bright.

Mine is much smaller and close to 1/14 scale. Around 12" wheelbase 17" overall. I'm running 1.55" wheels.

The springs are in there original bend with a little flexing. The recoil springs come in a spiral. Just take the spring from a portion that has the amount of bend you need. Probably can get old ones for free at a lawnmower/ chainsaw shop."thumbsup"

Good luck with yours, can't wait to see it.8)

Your right I have the 1/6th, I think there was 1/6 and 1/12th. The 1/6th is ~26" long, 19" wheelbase, and 9" wide, and I would like to stretch the bed an inch or 2. It's going to be a while before I get time, and money to build it, but there WILL be a build thread. I will most likely get spring steel from a local metal supplier. I know it's going to be heavy, it will be built as a tow rig.

I can't wait to see pictures of this PTO winch you have.

Mounts in front of the hood, and in the frame. Will sit right behind the bumper.

It is really simple and super strong.

This is the prototype, so it's a little rough. I used basic tools and parts I had on hand, so the next version may change some after testing.

I think the next one I will cut out of alum. Now for line and... the rest of the truck.

I built the rear axle w/ lockouts today, and set it up w/ springs/shackles and brackets.

I also made it some u-bolts. Also made the front spring hangers.

Now for body mounts and rear shock mounts."thumbsup"

I've been wandering about this build. I guess you got the rear lockouts since they're on there! Once again I apologise for forgetting to send them the first time. Did you have any issues installing them? That drivetrain setup looks complicated but I like It! Looks like it's coming along nicely. Keep it up!8)

awesome job man. I have a 6x6 cxt in 1/6th scale.

you have a body laying around unused let me know. look forward to more pics. "thumbsup"

man that thing is coming along, it keeps looking better and better than when i had it. i am seeing what i wanted to do but without spending the money and time, lol. sweet looking man"thumbsup"

looks awsome but the front shackels should be behind the front axal and the solid mount should be in front. makes for a better ride.8)

Sorry no updates yet, I've been working some large shifts snowplowing here in Virginia.

Thanks"thumbsup" I got the lockouts. No problem on the delay, I've got more then enough to keep me busy:) I went ahead and used the cromed axle housings you sent me ( thanks) since the others were over trimmed a bit. I soaked them in simple green and the crome paint slid right off. The lockouts went on great.

The drive drain has a few xtras, but really pretty simple. But man is that winch going to be sweet:mrgreen:

Thanks, I don't have any extra bodies. Is there a build on yours, I searched but came up empty? "thumbsup"

dont forget the exhaust ,this is one nice build keep the pics coming.

I'm deciding on what form of exhaust, but it will have that and many other details. I think I'm going to go with dual tailpipes instead off stacks. Then I'll paint ( Eat Soot ) or ( Stacks are for Nice Guys ) on the tailgate:mrgreen:

Pretty sweet man! "thumbsup"

Thank you"thumbsup"

I hope it looks better then when it was still in the box:mrgreen: I'm glad I could accomodate you "thumbsup" Keep watching, I'm just getting started.

Thanks"thumbsup" I went back and forth on this issue, There are 1:1 examples of them both ways, and from the research I did there is no right or wrong way, just trade offs.
I chose to mount them this way because with extreme lift springs there is alot of travel front to back when compressed. With the shackles reversed the axle traveled towards the cab to much at compression. This made it look like the axle was folding under the truck and caused clearance issues with the body.
The way I mounted them I sacrifice ride quality ( I'm willing to accept, since I'm not riding in it:mrgreen:) but I get the axle traveling towards the front of the truck and will allow for better body clearance and approach angles.

Any other info/ opinions on this subject, is more then welcome"thumbsup"

Progress updates soon,....... I hope:-P
