Ittybitty's BJV4 XR10

Good progress. I'm not changing a thing on mine till we compare the two on Sunday. Hope everything you are waiting on makes it here today or tomorrow.

its coming along very nice!!!

good job on the links .... any plans of inboarding the front shocks??? ....

Yeah I'll have to see what it looks like when it's up and running, but it seems like that will help out with more than just the steering at this point. It'll probably help the plastic pivot balls out being at less of an angle.

Well I ditched the factory turnbuckles and steering link and threw in a piece of all thread. that eliminated most of the slop and all of the binding. I might pick up a piece of steel round stock and replace the all thread. That would add a little more weight to the front and not be in the wheels...hmm I might stop by the hardware store at lunch and grab some. What I really need to do is measure it and find out if the 140mm Ti link and a set of Jato ends would be long enough. I think the one I have in there now is around 180mm eye to eye.

Well...take a look at what showed up at lunch today!

I went ahead and threw the 600 hubs on...much better width. I'll have to measure later, but it looks like the rear is right at .25" or less narrower on each side rather than a full .5" or more.

Very nice Itty, now get it together, your public demands video

It's looking real good.

I'd be happy to shoot some video and thanks for the compliments...just hopin' the replacement transfer gears make it so I wont screw up the video with the sound of gear teeth being shredded...we all know what that sounds like!

I should have it functioning tonight and if so I'll tear the front end apart and do the 10mm mod and have it ready for the new gears...otherwise we'll see just how long a 12t gear missing 5 will last (I'm still really amazed at how well it performed after the initial breakage and new bearings were installed)

IT LIVES!!! Althought I haven't had it out on rocks yet, I can't say how happy I am with the size of the Mamba Micro Pro's. They were very simple to program (Castle Link software ROCKS) and fit in this chassis like they were designed for it. At this point I just needed to tear into the front axle and upgrade to 10mm flanged bearings and hopefully my transfer gears will show up tomorrow. Then I'm gonna pick up some 1/4" steel round stock and replace the all thread that I'm currently using for the tie rod. I figure this will add weight in the right place and not be in the wheels...and it will slide over rocks easier than aluminum or this all thread and be plenty strong until I pick up a Ti replacement. In any case here it is:

At this point it weighs in at 5.62lbs RTR

I also received the 600 hubs today and threw them on...here's an overhead view showing how close the front and rear are now. The front measures 10 7/8" outside of the tires and the rear is at 10 5/8".

Nope...I've had everything from Mamba Max's to HH BRXL's to these now over the last 3 years or so. It's definitely had some improvements in that time too.

I've also got the Tekin Hotwire that I bought back when I had an FXR in a berg. I just don't think it's as user friendly as it is "pretty". Pretty doesn't always mean things work better.

I prefer Castle Link to Hotwire as well. More options and better control than just a 1-10 number value. Though my hotwire configured fxr has been treating me well in my xrm and it is tiny.

Well the postman didn't have anything for me today. I'm going wheelin in the 1:1 tomorrow with M_ENERGY so I'll have to see if it shows up tomorrow. Then I'll have to decide whether I want to drag the truck, trailer, and crawler home just to pick up the gears. I'm still gonna do the 10mm mod tonight and might throw it back together with the broken gear just so I can take it with me wheelin tomorrow.

Yeah and I'm not looking forward to driving all they way back home to pick them up just to drive back to Chapin until we meet up on Sunday morning for some crawling. On the other hand I want to be able to test this rig...not baby it!
