Ittybitty's BJV4 XR10

Oh BTW nice driving!!!

I'll forward that onto the BJ4 since I know it wasn't me! :lmao:

nice video itty .... "thumbsup"

nice foot save as well

THANKS! The foot saves come second nature after crawling at location for any amount of time. There's lots of water holes in that area, but plenty of good lines away from it...but it always makes it more interesting to throw some close calls in there.

We were just running a practice comp so we weren't worrying about it. We had a few guys that hadn't judged before and were just giving them an idea how it works in general.

Just busting your balls. Truck looks good. Are you able to move the rear shocks further back on the chassis? Looks like your rear wants to compress easily.

Hey guys, Im thinking about getting a xr10. But this thread seems very knowledgeable and i had a few questions.

Will I notice a big difference in crawling ability in a losi comp and the xr10???

The second question is what kind of motor and speed control setup would be the best??? I was looking at the holmes hobbies one where you only have to use one esc instead of two esc's. Thanks guys.

PS: I will be following this thread!!! "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

And the price for busting my balls...better pics of the crawler course in your avatar! Thats the furthest back mounting point on the BJ4 chassis. Since I tweaked the rear lower links today the shocks are more upright and I believe it is working better.

WILL YOU EVER! The XR10 is an amazing rig right out of the box. If you don't see a difference after driving an XR10 just once something is way off.

As far as motors and speed controllers go there's too many options to nail one down as the best. The new Novak M2 seems to be treating a lot of guys well and takes care of running both motors and operating the dig features and even runs on 3S too. Outside of that you will get into more technical controllers and wiring setups. The Tekin FXR is a great controller, along with the HH BRXL. I first built my XR10 with dual BRXL's and loved them, but when I swapped to this chassis I needed something considerably smaller and I chose the Mamba Micro Pro's over the FXR's simply because I don't like the external capacitors the FXR's come with. Don't forget about the Mamba Max and Sidewinder controllers either. If you are just starting into the MOA scene I would probably recommend picking up a Tekin FXR, Castle Creations Sidewinder, or a Mamba Max. The Sidewinder is super easy to use, but you will need to buy the Caslte Link software for it as well. The FXR is easily programmable using the buttons on the case although they do offer the Tekin Hotwire to use on your PC. My main reason for sticking with the Castle product line is that you will definitely need a Castle BEC to power your steering servo. In order to change the voltage on the BEC you will need the Castle Link software and once you have it you can program any of their controllers. So after all of this I would recommend picking up a Castle Sidewinder and Punk Dig along with some TEAM BROOD motors. Holmes Hobbies motors are nice as well.

Use these links for the items I'm talking about:

Punk Dig
Castle Sidewinder ESC
Castle BEC
Castle Link Software
Hitec 7950TH Servo
Team Brood Motors - 45t Contact EddieO on the forum and let him know what you want to do with your rig and he'll get you set up with the right stuff for sure.

Of course you'll need a 3 channel remote with a 3 position switch on the 3rd channel to operate the Punk Dig.

Great! Thanks Itty! I'll probably end up with the sidewinder or BR-XL Who knows :D And I'll have a look at those Brood motors. Im in a budget so i dont want to get too buck wild. It's my first MOA and my second crawler.

Also does the XR10 come with plastic lower links?

Thanks

Holmes has some budget minded motors as well.

The stock lower links are aluminum with plastic sliders. A small portion of each link is plastic to allow the sliders to mount to the aluminum.

It comes with flimsy plastic uppers though.

k then i will have to ask for some aluminum uppers too!!!

That or delrin. I am using BWD's delrin upper and lower links and are working well and at a great price there a no brainer. Itty is using all lunsford titanium upper and lowers.

Will a Tekin FX-R work with 2 45 turns??? Just was looking at the package deals on ckrc and one came with only one fxr? Just was wondering as this is cheaper than other setups.

Update...I swapped the soft outer foams in the rear to the medium outers around the firm inners from Nova. I like it a lot better this way...the rear tires don't wad up and hop unpredictably yet offer plenty of traction. I got some clarification on the programming of the MMP's and it sounds like I neet to reprogram mine so that I not only have the drag brake set at 213%, but I also have the brake amount set at 100%. I'm not entirely sure it will make a difference, but it was something I wasn't sure of when I initially installed them. These little buggers are GREAT!

The 10mm bearings have held up really well and taken some serious abuse recently. I ran 6 packs through it last Sunday with absolutely no problems. I stopped for a few minutes after each pack to let the servo cool down some though.

I do have a few issues with other bearings though. The outer bearing in the knuckles don't stay put. The bigger bearings on the backside are a chore to get in and don't like to come out, but the outer ones slide in and out with the shaft constantly...maybe someone from VP can shed some light on this...

Did you have these in sunday? I have thought I about doing the same thing to the rears in my sedonas.

I would like a answer to this also since I am experiencing the same thing with my VP knuckles.
