Ittybitty's BJV4 XR10

Your wish is granted...

I completed the 10mm mod on the rear axle last night and am waiting on some replacement transfer gears from JPCustomRCs and then I'll do the same on the front. It really wasn't that difficult. I had to clearance the plastic upper link mount where it mates to the motor plate since the 10mm bearings are 4mm wide. The screw that attaches the motor plate to the upper link mount had to be trimmed so that the hole for the middle bearing was round. The last thing that had to be done was to add a standard 3mm washer between the motor plate and the motor. DONE...and BEEF!!

Edit...I forgot to mention that I used a 25/64" drill bit which converts to a 9.921875mm bit...pretty close and only required a little filing around the edges to make a snug fit.

Then I started working on the rear lower links since they finally showed up. After studying a lot of pictures and then mocking things up I bit the bullet and went at it...turned out pretty good and just clamped the links in my bench vise and used a wrench to bend them. I might take a pic of this later on the other links.

I used the plastic pivot balls included with the kit in the upper shock mounts at the chassis along with a 4mm spacer between the ball and chassis plate.

I hope to finish all the links tonight and have a roller waiting on some electronics!

Did the same mod with mine using the 25/64 bit. Piece of cake. Don't know why more don't use 10mm bearings, they are so much more common"thumbsup""thumbsup"

Well I got some run time on this rig yesterday before I got a little too confident and tried to jump a gap and didn't quite clear it which finished off the already broken transfer gear in the front. This chassis has definitely made the largest improvement in this rig...without a doubt! I did make a lot of changes between the last time I ran the stock chassis and yesterday, but it pulled lines that the stock chassis was still holding me back on without more tuning. The wider rear made side hills a joke, but I do think I could stand to lower the whole rig just a bit...a tiny bit. I also just placed an order for some new smaller battery packs which I'm hoping will help that much more in the side hilling by reducing the weight in the chassis by 1.5oz. This week I plan on spending as much time as possible tuning the suspension and link geometry although it already works really well.

I didn't get any video of it since I didn't remember to charge the camera before I left. I believe someone got some pictures of it though so I'll post what I've got later on.

Thanks Itty! I was wondering what the verdict was on you gears.

it looked good this weekend itty... for to much longer u might be close anuff to touch the tail of my moon buggy lol...

all jokes aside.. truck worked really good.. i was impressed.. got me thinking about some xr10 axles

Looks kick ass!! I havent even got my truck yet and am thinking about replacing the chassis now..."thumbsup"

I added a little more bend at both locations on the rear lowers today to shorten up my wheelbase. Currently my rig is sitting at 12 4/8" and when sacked out per the rules it sits at exactly 12 1/2". I took it out this evening to a local spot and it really seemed to work well. The reason I concentrated on the rear links is that I wanted to help the rear shocks out. They were laying down too much and even with them limited .5" externally they were hitting the chassis first. Since I made the changes today they bottom out at the same time that they hit the chassis...perfect!

I started playing with the preload running the gold springs in the back and I think the sweet spot for my setup was with it adjusted almost all the way down i.e. more peload. This Sunday I plan on getting out to our usual spot again and seeing what I can do with link placement.

Hey guys, Im thinking about getting a xr10. But this thread seems very knowledgeable and i had a few questions.

Will I notice a big difference in crawling ability in a losi comp and the xr10???

The second question is what kind of motor and speed control setup would be the best??? I was looking at the holmes hobbies one where you only have to use one esc instead of two esc's. Thanks guys.

No reposition at last gate from the touch penalty?

We were just running a practice comp so we weren't worrying about it. We had a few guys that hadn't judged before and were just giving them an idea how it works in general.
