Ittybitty's BJV4 XR10

Thanks guys. I need to remember to trim off the lower link mounts on the rear axle now.

I picked up the new cases from Brians Hobbyland simply because he has the 40% off DEAL going on right now so they were super cheap and some of the holes are getting worn out from taking things apart so many times.

So you moved your lower links up to your shock mounts?? I am really curious to the performance change (better or worse) what you think? I have thought about it but I am getting really comfortable with mine now and everything seems to be working just fine for me

They were moved up already this past weekend. As usual I changed several things at once so I don't know if the link position had any ill effects on performance, but as long as they bolt up and dont cause any binding I think it's a good idea. The other thing is making sure your uppers are long enough to keep the motor up out of the rocks too. I wouldn't move the lowers up just to leave the motor hanging out there.

I got some time to drive it this afternoon with the weight added to the front wheels. It was too much...plain and simple. After removing 3oz from each side leaving the total weight at 12oz total it seems to be happier and was more stable on some climbs that I use to work harder at to avoid backflipping.

With the weight adjusted back down I've got a full wrap on each front. I wish I had a little more height to provide more support in the center, but with the Nova DD's (firm inner, soft outer) up front and the stock Boss Claw foams out back it seems to be working well. I'll know more on this after tomorrow in Atlanta!

I also spent some time last night with my new lathe and Brood motors. I cut both of them and refreshed the brushes. They run super smooth again now!

I still have some things to learn before I'll be cutting anyones "comp" motors. I've been speaking with Eddie back and forth getting some pointers. I think after a few more practice runs and some new techniques I'll be confident enough to start working on whoever wants it done...

Thanks Harvo! I was REALLY impressed with my rig at the comp. It was my first time out on the new tires. Quite a few people seemed to think they weren't working like they should have been. I think that's a combination of the fact that I'm running them on .8" wide wheels so the foams are a little more firm than they would be on 1" wheels (which are on the way) and the fact that we are all use to seeing the way the rovers and sedonas work.

I spent a couple hours at our local spot today pulling lines that I had made before, but much easier this time. I also pulled some lines that I had'nt made without stacking a rock previously. The smoothness that these tires deliver is AMAZING!

How are the Mamba Micro's working out?

They continue to impress me. The drag brake is absolutely perfect. I can drag the rear end around all day long without it moving, but it's not so locked up that it won't move in a hard bind. I don't get any roll back on climbs when switching from 4wd to front dig either. I haven't even bothered with the throttle curves to see if theres any room for improvement there. I guess that's because they are so smooth with a straight line.

Even if they did require a little more tuning to get them to work as well as they do I would still choose them for several reasons. First off...there's no external cap. Second...they have wires soldered to the boards rather than posts (I really hated soldering to those posts on the FXR's). Lastly...the price leaves no room for argument at all at just over $50 each shipped.

Here's some pics from the Crawling for Kids in Atlanta, GA this past Saturday...

I'll throw some more up later on.

I'd also like to say thanks to Scott at Axial for replacing the three gears that I've broken so far. I called him on 12-8 and let him know what I had broken. He asked a couple questions about my setup and such and then said he had them ready to go and would get them out as soon as he could. They showed up at my house on 12-11 in SC!

THANKS SCOTT!
