Ittybitty's BJV4 XR10

Yeah the foams were swapped on Sunday so you saw it with them installed.

I've thought about putting some teflon tape around the bearings and pushing them in to keep them in place.

Yeah sure would...but I've already gone through two of these bearings. I don't know that this movement is causing them to begin to fail, but either way they shouldn't be moving like this.

Put some loctite on the outside of the bearing, I had to do mine on the bearings that go in tha end of the axle tube of my berg. And they stay put now. "thumbsup"

ORDERED MY VP TRANNIES!!!!!!! The motor plates and GEAR SETS are suppose to show up on the site soon (2 weeks per Tom)!

The Boss Claws seemed to work very well for you the other day. Whats your opinion on them?

Thanks Michael! I forgot to throw up a quick update the other day when all my new goodies showed up. Here's what showed up last Friday

The Boss Claws performed really well. I was curious what type of foam setup they would work the best with for my liking. I simply started with the 5.5" Novas with firm inners and soft outers. They seemed to do really well with this setup. I haven't convinced myself to cut the tread yet, but I've caught myself looking at them trying to figure out how I'd like to do it. I threw the VP tranny cases on since I finally got a set of steel pinions to replace the nearly worn out stock aluminum version (not exactly the best material). I'm gonna hang onto the axle cases until VP throws down the aluminum top portion down the road. That is unless I need them before then. I also chose to go with a smaller wire size from the motors to the ESC's. I had been running 12ga but have dropped back to 16ga for more flexibility and overall ease of use really.

The lathe and brush cutter were scored on eBay from the same guy in two auctions. I've spent some time with the lathe, but I don't have anything to pull a motor out of for a tune up and test for results. I know...I have the motors in the XR, but I'd much rather try my hand at something cheaper before I go there. I've cut the comm on an old 55t Integy which was in surprisingly good shape compared to some of the ones I've seen pictures of here. The brush cutter came with two Epic motors that I'll tear into and rebuild just for practice. I'd like to pick up a really cheap car or truck that I can use these motors in and will allow me to see the results better.

So I decided to change some things since it is getting so cold here now. I added enough weight to each front to get the total weight for each tire and wheel combo up around 15oz. After reading through the Boss Claw foam tuning thread I felt like this would be worth a try. With the weight added my rig is weighing 6lbs and according to most guys running a rig in that weight class 15oz seems about average. I will adjust back down from here as I see fit, but I wanted to see how it would act as a heavy rig especially since its cold now. I also think the extra wrap of weights will help provide some firmness in the center of the tire. For the rears, I pulled the Nova DD's out and threw in the stock pink foams that came with the Claws. I had been running 30wt. oil in the front shocks and decided to drop them down to 15wt to help them flow a little smoother when the oil gets cold. I'm trying to decide which way to go on the rear shocks though. They are currently running 45wt oil but I don't think I want them as light as the front.

What's the consensus on this?

I'd drop the rear too. Since there is no weight back there you need it to react faster.

So would you go as far as 15wt or not? I wasn't thinking about the weight deal. Does that mean you would want a slightly thicker oil up front? I was under the impression the front would be the lower weight oil in most cases. I can relate to spring rates and such from my experience with 1:1 rock crawlers, but this oil thing is throwing me off.

I keep mine a little slower up front (but not much) because of the weight. As I have been learning to drive courses faster, I find that if my shocks are too slow, I end up rubber side up from the stuff between gates.

Not sure about specific weight for you. It depends on how many holes are in your shock pistons. Personally I like 30wt with 3 holes and 15 with 2 holes. That's on bigbores though. "thumbsup" Sometimes I mix weights to get what i need too.

Thanks to Limited77 I have a new set of lexan body panels! I threw some paint on the just a little bit ago and bolted them on and did a little trimming. I got a little carried away with the heat gun on the hood panel so you'll have to excuse the waves. The color is Fiery Orange from Pactra backed with black. I sprayed two light coats and one heavy coat of the orange. See what ya think...
