Ittybitty's BJV4 XR10

Thanks to Limited77 for putting together this video from our time at the zoo on Friday.

I made a few changes to my electronics layout last night. I'd post some pictures but I think it's gonna change again tomorrow since I have the day off and a few new ideas. For now I basically flattened everything out and moved them all as far forward as possible. The front ESC just barely clears the front motor it's so far forward. After taking a swim twice on Friday I've had one or two issues with the servo but I think I have it worked out now, but if not that'll be another story.

At this point I also have the VP tranny cases and motor plates and this thing is WHISPER quiet...I love it!

Is that a homebrew deans plug? I've been looking for something similar, I want to be able to quickly disconnect my dual micro pros.

Nope...it's made by Electrifly I believe. I picked it up at the local Hobbtyown USA. It worked really well, but I don't have room for it anymore.

I went ahead and whooped up an electronics tray that mounts to the motor and carries both ESC's and the Rx. Now EVERYTHING is unsprung weight with the exception of the chassis itself of course. It's just some thin sheet aluminum wrapped around the motor and bolted to itself. I cut some sections out of the area that wraps the motor to allow the motor too breathe. The thin aluminum shouldn't cause any extra heat buildup to worry about. I need to pick up some more velcro to attach everything but for the time being I've got double sided foam tape and some zip ties holding everything in. Everything clears nicley, but I'm still working on smoothing a few things out that I'm not entirely happy with. Let me know whatcha think...

Thanks...I'll have to get some shots up again tomorrow since I've cleaned up the sharp points and will hopefully get the bugs worked out of it. I'm interested to see if I can tell a difference at all. I originally wanted to get the electronics as far forward as possible but with my current link setup and the configuration of the XR10 front axle just keeps the options very limited.

No real issues yet...I've had one of the ground wires going to the Rx come loose on one and the other wires aren't that solid either but holding. They're easy enough to solder back on and they're probably not happy about all of the different positions that I've put them in!

Nice spin on the motor mounted tray, I like it"thumbsup" I have a feeling we will be seeing more diffrent variations of this idea popping up.

There is one down here that made one as soon as he saw pics of the proto you sent me. His is very similar to Itty's but made of delrin sheet.

It is a great idea you came up with Chris "thumbsup"

I like your version of it Itty, nice work man!

Although this really isn't part of my build I just have to show these off. I bought a Cobra lathe in either November or December and really enjoyed using it. It cut great and really had no reason to get rid of it. Then I read a recent post from EddieO talking about which lathes he likes the most. He said he really liked his Fantom lathes and also a Twister lathe. After reading the price he had paid for some of the Fantoms I just had to see what made them so special. Keep in mind I had no reason to get rid of the Cobra...

I ended up finding a guy on RCTech that had a Fantom AND a Twister lathe for sale but they had been posted mid 2010 but never marked sold so on a long shot I sent him a message just to see if they were available and what he wanted. Long story shorter...I sold the Cobra lathe and my tool envy took over!

I haven't used them yet but they both have diamond bits and appear to be in great shape. I am really impressed with the design of the Fantom. The biggest difference...and what Eddie praised this one for...is that they are made from a solid piece for the base and all of the mechanicals are mounted to that which eliminates a lot of the possibility for things to get out of adjustment versus a lathe with an aluminum base with separate uprights holding the slave motor, armature guides, etc. I'll report back after I give them a whirl. "thumbsup"

That's funny ....I was pming him and he said I could have them an when he pmed me back with paypal info he said he had just sold them!!! You bought them right out under me!!! Just glad they went to someone on RCCRAWLER "thumbsup"
