Kaetwo's Tekin FX-R Review...

Here are the numbers off their site, and Tower and some others have them listed as on order.

TT2101 FX-R + 55T Pro Motor
TT2102 FX-R + 55T Motor
TT2103 FX-R + 45T Pro Motor
TT2104 FX-R + 45T Motor
TT2105 FX-R + 35T Pro Motor
TT2106 FX-R + 35T Motor

Good question!

I haven't been told if other combo's will be available. I'll see if I can round up some details ;-)

Thanks. I saw the stuff on Tower but didn't know if it was real or not. I'd like them to offer these for sure. 8)"thumbsup"

As brushed motors die in most markets they are also getting harder to come by. The US dollar is also down 20% against the Yen making the price for the motors increase. Expect to see the price on brushed motors actually increase in the near future unless they are from China. Otherwise they are just not worth anybody selling to break even. Already the very worst margin of all of our products by far. We really only offer them so we have a combo system with the FxR.

I need some help setting the voltage cutoff, in the instructions, it says to go to led six then set it to the third setting for 3s lipo, and 1-3 led should light up back and forth, but it is 1-4. I have tried recalibrating, the fx-r but still having problems. Currently running tekin fx-r, 11.1v 3s lipo, 7t hh pull, cc bec at 6v. Thanks in advance, Mike

When you turn on the ESC you sould be able to press the "Mode" button 6 times, which should take you to the last light on the display. Once there click on the "INC" button to cycle through the options 1-4, ending on 3 for 3C Lipo Cutoff.

1 - None
2 - 2C Lipo Cutoff
3 - 3C Lipo Cutoff
4 - Custom Setting

Once set, let the ESC sit until it chimes at you and then your good to go. Now if you do those steps and you still get all 4 lights lite up, then try setting the cutoff on option 1, 2 or 4 to see what happens. I would be curious to see how it responds when set to the other cutoff settings.

led4 is custom voltage cutoff. You put an actual value in the hotwire. 3s would be 9V or so.

Led 1 in no cutoff
Led 2 is 2S ( 6V)
led 3 is 3s ( 9v)
led 4 is custom cutoff that goes to 17.8V I think.

If the manual says led6 that is a typo.

For radio cal you might need to switch your throttle to Rev. If we take the nuetral and not the throttle try pushing brake instead. If it takes that as throttle you need to switch it around.

You can see the leds respond to the throttle even before you calibrate. WIth no motor attached you can wiggle the throttle until you find the nuetral it wants and will initialize. THen you can pull throttle and see if the leds show throttle or brake and how much. Gives you an idea where you are with epa's compared to what we expect as defaults.

Ok just tried it on all three different settings, led 1&4 light up on all three settings. Team tekin if you program the Tekin FX-R and stop on led four, that is for push control or anti-drag. The instructions for voltage cutoff follow

Led 6: Voltage Cutoff
1) NONE (LED1 ON)
NiCd/NiMh Cells.
2) 6 Volts ( LED 1&2 ON)
2 Cell LiPo (2s)
3) 9 Volts (LED 1&3 ON)
3 Cell LiPo (3s)
4) Custom (LED 1&4 ON)
User Selectable Using Tekin HotWire PC Connection

I do not have the hotwire pc connection that is why I can't figure out why it is light up.

Thats a better answer.. I read that wrong and yes led6 is the VC setting.

Possible that if you set 3s in the hotwire we actually show led4 custom setting on the unit. If we do not hand the unit the exact value for 3s that it wants there can be some confusion so it displays the custom value. Maybe we missed. We are just getting ready to release a new Hotwire so I will take a look and see.

Pause... I just checked and if I set 3s VC in the hotwire it shows leds 1-3 on the unit.

This sounds odd. Please call me directly and lets figure this out. Have it in hand and ready to turn on please.

Done deal and all good. Flashing leds 1 and 4 is the normal operation when in nuetral. We flash led 4 for nuetral and then led 1 is the temp monitor showing there is no heat. If the unit is hot it might flash led4 and the leds 1,2,3 showing moderate heat levels. Flashing all 6 leds is jsut about to thermal shutdown.

For me personally I like a lot of wheel speed. The 45t is the perfect blend of speed and low end throttle control ;-)

I just installed a Tekin FX-R in my hustler super build. I'm using a DX3R radio and receiver. I have the ESC mounted on the chassis floor next to my 3c lipo. I am having huge glitching problems. From reading this thread, I'm going to move the ESC to the mounting plate above the battery and see if that fixes the issues. Am I headed in the right direction?

Thanks,

Yup!

Keep the reciever away from the ESC if glitching happens and the most significant thing you can do is make sure your ant. does not parallel any power wires.

I'm not familiar with that radio but can you turn your endpoints up? That is usually the problem.
