Kaetwo's Tekin FX-R Review...

Not sure where you are from but most $100+ electronic devices I buy come WITH an interface cable and ability to upload or program firmware right out of the box.

Most? Of those most that you speak of, how do they compare in size to the FXR? That to me was it's main selling point. That and it's adjustability and drag brake. The FXR is already field adjustable with the on board buttons. If you want to tweak a little more the just buy or borrow the Hotwire. And at $10 more than a Castle link, what's to complain about?

Even though the software is free, I find paying $32 for the Hotwire excessive.

The fact that this device works on EVERY new Tekin speed controller we offer makes the $32 easy to swallow. We also do not charge at all for the software as some other companies do, and our service and support are second to none.

We could include one in every speedo package but that would only raise the price. Besides what do you do with all the extra ones?

Either way we'd like to think that it's a small price to pay. Not everyone buys them or even needs them. However those competing that want the ability to change features that aren't available via the onboard interface are the ones buying.

If you're FXR is taking a second to arm, make sure your NW setting is not at MIN. The lowest that should be is 10. Any lower than that and you're not offering much room for the radio to give the speedo a nuetral setting. We will NOT arm until we see nuetral.

I've got an issue that is confusing me. my drag brake fail and the rig will role backwards. on incline or flat ground. sometimes, just tapping the throttle in reverse make the rig role. no stopping. it's not constant but last night and today, when going up hill i stopped, took a reverse and it rolled all the way back down. when on flat ground, i noticed a few times too, just backing up, and sometimes it would stop dead in it's tracks but other times, it would roll as if it were a standard XL5 esc.

I have no idea what's going on. I have the upgrade. fresh battery pack too. I thought it might an interference issue with the RX - what do you think tekin?

This happened with the last motor. was told it was probably going out so I dropped a blue tekin 55t in. i have a spektrum 2.0 tx-rx and am running a saddle 8 pack.

Make sure your trim is set at 0 and the EPA's are at 100% when you setup the speed control. I know that can cause what your describing.

Need some help. I got the updated software email, but I'm super lost on how to convert it to .zip? and install it. I'm using XP if anyone can give me a step by step or something. I tried already with no sucess. TIA

It will depend on your windows settings, but try this first before I go through all the instructions.

Just go to the folder that you have it saved in, right click on the file, and click on rename. Change the name so that it says .zip after the file name. Should be something like Tekinhotwire.zip.

From the sounds of it you have your NW(nuetral width) setting to low. Make sure it's around 20 and recheck this issue. Setting it to MIN or too low can cause the esc to not get a proper nuetral signal from your radio. If it sees no nuetral drag brakes will not be applied.

yeah? It's sporadic though. not all the time does it do this. Mann0Mann, can you help with this? to check my neutral setting?

I would try reprogramming the radio first. Make sure your EPA's are set at 0 and reprogram the radio to the ESC.

I had a similar problem. It ended up being in the radio. The potentiometer for the throttle trigger had come loose causing the throttle trigger not to return to center. It may not be your problem but its worth a look.

Ok I think that worked. Now do I just uninstall the current hotwire and redownload? Thanks for your help

I've received the latest software. There doesn't seem to be any change log file like most software has.

Can someone answer this, how many different firmware and software updates have been released in the last 2 years and list of changes in each version?

I am not sure but I think it is more or less, just an updated version. Its not an update that is added to the current software that is already on your PC which is why you have to uninstall the old software. (If I read your question right)

Thanks bro, love the fxr even more now"thumbsup"

No problem."thumbsup"
