Lets talk servos and servo power

the airtronics 94358 is a great servo. iuse them in my 8 scale buggy and my truggy. im on my second racing season with the same servos. they have a pretty good torque rating too. but for my crawler, im planning on using a 1/4 scale servo

Well under the recomendation of a fellow crawler I met at the R/c expo a while back. I decided to go with a Hitec 5955mg.

Heres why.
  • $30 cheaper then the Airtronics with 133 more oz. of torque.
  • Hitecs awesome no question warranty.
  • I already have a Hitec alum servo horn.
  • I'm running a MX-3 radio with epa's
  • Titanium gears

I just went with two MG5955TG's plus they can hold a 6 cell pack 471oz @ 7.2v...

I run a super class clod with LST tires on 3/4" ace adapters to 3/4" maximizer rims and did the following. Tried the hs645mg and broke the gears, then went to tower pro 995's and they had good power. They did not last long either, on the front the idler shaft wallowed out the front case and bound up the motor. The rear started doing the same and also starting glitching and hanging up.
Bottom line digital servos are good for the super class, as long as you can adjust them correctly. With a quality digital transmitter that can adjust end point adjustment, or you will just burn out the pot? You wanna smoke your pot? I didn't think so.
I went with Sysco's 1/4 scale servo mounts and used cs80's, and they get the job done with the use of my cheapy tq3. 1/4 scale servo, 30 some odd bucks and provides 343 oz. of torque. Enough said.

Didn't know you could do that with these, I thought it was only with the 5995mg robot servo. Cool"thumbsup"

Well so they say.

From what I understand the TGs can be ran at 7.2V (400+ oz-in)

If someone could make some metal output gears for the cs-80, I would reward them handsomely, since I've sheared off both output shafts off mine, and I bet my truck won't hesitate to do it again.

They are holding up great, still like new. I actually liked them so much I upgraded my TLT as well. Worth every penny."thumbsup"

I stripped a pair of 5645 servos in 2 days, the same gear always failed, now im going to try airtronics, a bit more expensive but if they work its worth it!

Good to know. "thumbsup" Keeping a 5645 in the rear, debating whether or not to use a saver, but probably not. If it strips, I'll just get another 5955! 8)

Does anyone have any experience with Futaba's BLS351? It's the new brushless, Hi-speed, Hi-torque servo. 210 oz @ .13 sec.

Had the 3305 for years, no problem, New Gmade with Hitecs' busted one, Put the 10 year old 3305 on, broke 3 arms, not the servo.. then busted the other Hitec,, bougth the Latest JR with 400 rating.. Question is, Will it burn more elec up with the more torque? (Before I get a second for the rear)

x 3. Jr's z9000t is badass. That beast is running 6.5V in a Scorpion. HAHA I should have got it sooner.

Finger breaker
