maryland roll call

Not on Facebook, but I've been to Sugarloaf with the kids. Do you crawl the trails to the top, or paths around the base? Great suggestion!

Son and I are in the North East (Aberdeen) area. We are looking for places that are Crawler Friendly to get out of the house while under this pandemic.

He runs an SCX10ii - Jeep Wrangler (stock)
I run an SCX10 - Dodge Power Wagon (Vanquish control arms, light bar, RPP Battery Tray).

We have tried out the Susquehanna state Park for our first outing in the US.

I have heard that Rock State Park would be good.

Looking for groups to join for someone to learn from as we expand our ability.

it may be a little too far for you, but im near gaithersburg/potomac area. ive been intending to check out Great Falls area in the next couple weeks. its hard to look farther than my own yard as i have a large log pile that has been my crawling space.

Check out MD Scaler on Facebook for events and information on crawling. Also there is another one called purpose built crawler course and backwoods rc on Facebook. I'm down south in Lexington park. Everything is far for me so I usually drive over to Fredericksburg and crawl at Ficklin island. My favorite spot in Maryland is Sugarloaf mountain, its amazing. Lots of people crawl there

I will need to check out those FB groups. I recently started building crawlers and was starting to scout out spots. I work in Gaithersburg and live near Olney so there are a lot of options depending on the day.

Sugarloaf is on my list and once the heat settles, I am going to spend my lunch hour walking around Seneca Creek Park looking for spots. I also think Black Hills park in Germantown might have some potential.

I just recently this past sunday went to Double rock park in parkville md. I showed up early before the heat set in and hot lucky it wasnt too bad out, mostly because the whole rocky creek area is all covered by trees. This is now my second favorite place besides Sugarloaf. Here are some pictures I took at Double rock

I'd love to get a group of people together there at double rock and we can set up some gates and have fun!

Seneca Creek is ok, if go by the Visitor Center near the entrance there's a trail that will take you down to the creek, that's the best I've seen so far.

Rdubb, thanks for the tip. I still haven't had a moment to get over there but I know the exact spot you are describing.

Revin9k, I may be up for double rock closer to the fall. everything is pretty hectic at the moment but I think I need to check out that park either way and had not heard of it prior.

i just took my son for a hike in Great Falls MD (Billy Goat Trail). Just off the tow path on the C&O canal are some great looking rocks. kinda crowded with foot traffic though.

My son and I are in Baltimore. He's got a Tamiya CC-01 (FJ40) and I'm still putting together a TF2 build. We go to:

Honeygo
Rocks SP
a couple different sections of Gunpowder
Greenbrier
Rocky Point
North Point SP

As a family we're always out hiking; and he and I are always looking for new places to crawl.

As mentioned by revin9k, above, we're looking at the SuperShafty Fall crawl in Oct., as well.

I just got a Tamiya cco1 kit (Land Rover D90) for Father’s Day but it’s definitely more of a trail truck and going to only do minor modifications on that one (mostly steering).

Played hooky and went to Great Falls. Other than dropping my controller (RC4GS) resulting in losing the bottom section of pixels of the LCD, it was a great outing!

New to scale/crawler RC, currently out of Alexandria. Me and my girl have been trying to find local spots to crawl at and Great Falls is on the list! Glad to see it works out pretty good. Definitely going to make it out there soon.

I just finished installing 90mm desert lizards on my 10.3 along with some nice front/rear bumpers. Still gotta do suspension upgrades on her stock RTR 10.2!

Eventually want to get the Tamiya Jeep YJ body, but that's for after this redcat body falls apart.

i did Great Falls on the Maryland side. You have to pay to park, but a year pass is more economical. Once on the tow path i walked south of about 100 yards and just found a trail. There are great rocks EVERYWHERE, so you can't really go wrong.

I’m in Severn MD, the only spot I’ve really gone to is Patapsco State Park. I’ll have to check out some of the other spots you guys all mentioned. I just like Patapsco since it’s only 15 minutes from me and there’s plenty of little features to crawl around on.

It really sucks living on the upper half of the eastern shore. Feels like I'm the only one over here in md that is. [emoji23]
