WOW! I'm inspired .

Thank you for the inspiration, I have started on my own mini Moab simply because of this thread.

Fantastic, nothing better than to inspire others, looking forward to other people's build threads.

FINALLY!!!! Clear weather in the forecast, concrete will resume tomorrow...."thumbsup" I can't wait to get all the concrete poured and start the painting, need to hurry wife's honey do list is getting longer.

The course looks great. A real inspiration for me when I start my backyard course. I have less room but you have definitely put some passion into this course. To be able to share with your son will be a priceless.
So I am unfamiliar with concrete work but it looks like you molded your terrain from dirt then put a coating of cement on top of the course?
If you don't mind me asking what is the consistency when you pour? Whip Creme? Peanut Butter?
If you get around to it and could give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it.

I plan to make a video showing the process I use, I figure I will just make a small rock for demo purposes. Unfortunately my son got the flu and brought it home and shared it with us so it may be a day or two before I get back work.

FINALLY!!! An Update. The boy brought home the flu so we were all down for 2 weeks, gotta love public schools.

I've been pouring quite a bit of concrete, but most of it was just drainage areas and walkways. But last week I got to the last of the boulders and this weekend I sprayed some paint. I used to different colors, one as a base and a darker one for shadows than went back and did a wash of the base over all of them to soften the shadows. I'm really happy with how well the color matches the surrounding dirt.

I also painted the brides a nice grey, got sick of waiting for natural age.

A cool front is coming tomorrow with rain so after that I can start adding the smaller real rocks and digging out the mud holes.

Without the brides, looks like you've got epic termite hills

Funny thing is bugs have been the biggest pain, they keep digging out before the concrete dries.

Needs a garden railway now!

looking good "thumbsup"

You know I've always wanted one, just looks like a lot of maintenance, plus my bulldogs would probably just eat it.

Well we got a little rain today, man can't wait till I get everything out of storage and get the trucks rewaterproofed, lots of deep water action.

This is actually several hours after it had drained off, it fills really fast the side and back of the house drain to it and the entire garage, 60 feet of roof drains to it.

Thanks everyone and soon as I get some free time I will start making some videos, spare time is limited so most of my spare time goes into construction of the track.

Looks real nice! My brother works in Beaumont, are you on the Houston Crawlers facebook group?

No I've been out of RC for 4 years now due to some family things and actually we no longer live in the Houston area, we are out past splendora, which is why I need a backyard course.

The water finally soaked in so it's time for some digging. I had to remove about an inch or two of the top mud, it was mostly from run off while building the boulders. I also dug out some pits that will end up being the water traps.

I used the excess dirt to bury the boulder edges that were still exposed. I also piled up the dirt for one more small rock that I will video the making of and post online as soon as the weather clears up, don't expect much I'm no professional youtuber.

After that I started installing some of the smaller rocks in the ditch, I have a variety of rocks I've collected from different locations. I also have some left over moss rock from past landscape projects.

I'm gonna make a few more of the rock slide areas, I'm keeping these small rocks loose so the leaves can be removed easily in the fall. Basically I cut small stairs into the sides and than just toss the rocks on the stairs. In the fall I can pick the rocks up clean the leaves and toss em back down.

I still have a few more moss rocks to install and scatter about, than it will be on to other details.

Hey rooney, long time no see. I have been out of it for a while as well, about to build a couple of new rigs, one for me and one for the grandson. The track looks amazing!

Hey whats up, yea hopefully once I get the track finished I can find some time to have some people out one day.

Installed the rest of the moss rock, haven't decided if I'll order some more moss rock, I may drive it a while and see if more is needed. Now it's time to start plant shopping and working on the finer details.
