Official Reveiw,,,Pit Bulls "Rock Beast" 2.2 Prototype

Sweet! May have to try those.

What width rim you find to work the best? I need to find a budget friendly rim for my pitbulls. The stock venom rims just don't work on these.

i had the best luck with 1.25 in wheel. they didnt seem to work for me on a 1in wheel. eritex wheels held the bead for me

i have em on a 1.25 vp dh wheel in front ,,and a 1.0 slw in rear,,,this is the best combo i have had yet,,,i also have a set mounted on the proline 8 shooters on my scaler,,they are 1.0 i think..and a set of dna thrashers that are 1.0,,

but for comp purpouse i run the vp wheels"thumbsup"

well,,today my club had another season comp,,and im pleased to say that the Dos Piezas and Rock Beasts are still doin work,,today i managed to pull down my 2nd consecutive -36 for a 2nd place finish ,,,the weather was friggin cold,,probably lower to mid 40s but the wind chill made it feel like the 20s...the foams remained on point all day with no sensitivity to the climate, and with the tires compound being on the softer side,,the combo really shined,,while others were feeling the affects of the temps,,a few guys were complaining about there non memory foams getting stiff as the day went on,,which you could tell really took its toll on them and there rigs capability's,,, my camera shit the bed on me a few days ago and hasnt gotten replaced yet,,hopefully some guys from my club managed to get a few pics,,if so ill post em up "thumbsup"

Cool, thank you! "thumbsup"

well i aquired a lcc a month or so ago. after acouple weeks of high modifications it was up and running. i stole the pitbulls off my scaler, mounted them on a set of brand new 1" vp slw v1s.

set up-
lcc
17.5t rs/redline tekin brushless combo
7995 hitec steering servo
ccbec
dsm2 3ch reciever
1300mah 3s lipo
carbon fiber upper links
lunsfurd bent rear lowers/delrin front lowers
cdw dig mount, servo/battery tray/ aluminum hardware set
inverted,outboarded shocks f&r
gold losi springs all around 65w oil
carbon fiber shock towers
losi knuckles/cs up front
14oz total front tire weight (per side)
10oz total rear tire weight (per side)
slw v1 1" raw/blue rings 725 hub front, 600 hub rear

my rig comes in at about 6lbs 3oz rtr and has 57/43 front to rear bias.

in the rear im running the nova 5.0 inner, 5.5 outer w/ the small 1/4" tuner ring between them.
in the front im running the nova 5.0 inner, 5.5 outer, tuner ring between inner/outer, tuner ring around outside.

the tires seem to round out a slight bit in the rear, but the weight in the front seems to get them to flatten out.

my first test was wicked r/c (framingham mass). this is an indoor foam/grout combination.
the tires seemed to have alittle bit of trouble on the straight level vertical climbs, but i think this was do to the harder foam combo with not alot of contact patch/ doming.
the sidehilling was alittle better but the slight doming of the tires seemed to hurt the performance.
true crawling with misc ups/downs/different terrain/ these tires did awesome!! plenty of bite and traction to pull me where i wanted to go.

all in all the truck/tire combo did good, but im gonna take the tuner ring out to soffen them up for the winter series at wicked.

ive been practicing at various real rock spots here in ct. and ........
so far with the tuner ring in these babies grab and go. they flatten out and grab all sorts traction. straight climbing was great and the sidehilling was better than the indoor course but still needs some impovement.

im gonna go ahead and remove the tuner ring f&r and see how the rig does from there. thanx for looking and more to come. pics and setup soon.

awesome,,,i know when i was running novas i was havin better luck when i switched to the 5.0 outer with 1 tuning ring up front,,and in the rear 5.25 outer with 1 tuning ring ,,,

im curious as to how the loss of the ring will affect the performance

im hoping by taking out the inner hard foam tuner ring in the front it will let the tire flatten out but not take the stability out of the tire from the weight. as for the rear ive got an inner hard foam tuner ring and a soft memory type tuner ring wrapped around the outside. i think im gonna remove the outer and try that first and swap if its still alittle hard. see what happens i guess.

either way im very happy with the soft compound of the tires and cant wait to get them dialed."thumbsup"

its starting to stat below 40 degrees around here though so could have different results than in the summer weather. im just gonna tune these to run the indoor course for the winter series and play with foams in the spring for out doors.
as soon as i get my camera downloaded ill post pics of the rig and tires. hard some action shots too.

scored a new camera on black friday,,so i decided to get new pics to test it out,,,,the camera is sick....

Pics coming of Rock Beasts in action. Bottom line, these tires spend more time hookin' on rocks than an East St. Louis snow ho on a full moon Friday night!

Bring on the sh!ttiest conditions and stand back for the Pit Bull show. Testing is still in full swing, but after todays performance, XR-10 + VP + Pit Bull Rock Beasts + a dash of "smart driving" equals top of the podium, beotches!

Thank you Pit Bull for the on course chant of U-S-A, U-S-A!

how big of difference did the new foams make dez? best foams you tried? i put these away on my scaler since i couldnt get my foam combo right and if its the best combo i might buy a set with the foams

amen to that,,,stoked your diggin on em....finally some one else feels the same way i do about them...do work driver.....

hands down best foams i have run in them,,they are brand specific,,designed for this tire specificly,,,i have had a dramatic jump in performance with them....

Nice pics man! That last one should be in a Pitbull add. XR10 now? You got one of everything yet:razz: Gonna try some of those Pitbulls tomorrow in the fridged IA winter.
thanks,,,,i would love another add with my rig in it,,im not gonna lie,,i love what pit bull has done for me,,,my rigs on the tires package,,on the foams package,,they used my rig for a promotional flyer on here,,michael has been great to me,,...the xr was an impulse buy,,im glad i did it though,,awesome rig,,,,and no i dont have 1 of everything,,theres still a few im missing...lol...you will love the way these dogs work in the cold,,,i really couldnt believe how well they hooked up in the cold,,,you could hear other tires slapping rocks,,not these,,grab and go,,,let me know how they work for you....

lol i guess ill give them another shot. gonna have to buy another set of pits though cause i glued the hell outta them to keep them watertight on the pl titus wheels lol oh well its only money

lol just bought some new foams and some new pits. ill try the 1.25 wheel all around then switch to the 1in out back to see if it works better for me. thanks for the info dez.

I wonder if they wouldn't work better with about 1/2 the tread depth. The only problem I had with them was on sidehilling. It seemed like the tall tread would fold over and let loose when trying to turn uphill on a steep sidehill.

that was due to the foams,,my rig side hills like crazy,,thats my favorite stuff to do,,,plus the more they wear down the stickier they get...

after our season ender last week i was messin with my scaler with the RB's and Dos Pieza's,,,i side hilled some of the same lines we did during the comp,,me and one of the guys sat and watched in amazement...
