There's to many variables to take into consideration as far as looks honestly. It's all opinions based on what everyone perception of what looks real and what doesn't. Honestly, in my opinion, the bodiless plate chassis's we see now look about as close to the real thing as a SWX with no body. :lmao: Others see them different, and that's fine.

I'd like to see bodiless chassis's stay in sportsman honestly.

Since 2.2 is the most popular class, it would make sense that it has more exposure. Why not ban bodiless there as well? Not everyone who is new goes straight to Sportsman. When someone puts together that brand new XR-10, aren't they going to be turned off to see all the bodiless rigs in 2.2?

(note: I'm making a point here...I do NOT want to see bodiless banned in 2.2 or anywhere else for that matter).
i'm a guy that fits into this category. i was going to start with sportsman, but i realized that at some point i would outgrow the truck and didn't want to have to start over when that happened so i got an XR10.

when i went to watch a comp before i got the XR10, seeing all the bodiless rigs actually got me more excited because i saw that it was one more thing i could do to change the way the truck worked and looked.

I think that the powers that be need to have their head examined. . . Why in the world would you ever ban bodiless chassis?! Is it because you think it offers advantage? Doesn't look "scale"? Now I didn't read through this whole thing but has anyone from the rules committee come forward and explain their reasoning? If so, what did they say? And if not, why not? I think this is just another way of them trying to bring sportsman down so they will have less people in the class, that actually drive it for the challenge, trying to get the nationals to actually recognize us as a class. And I dare someone to say that they do. . . Because they don't . . . Cause id they did, there would be a sportsman class at nats.

There is my .02 :flipoff:

Yes, out of the 17 committee members that I pm'd and directed here, only 5 have spoken up so far (though I've noticed more than a handful have been quietly camped out here). One of them did not have a chance to cast his vote, another simply stated he was pro-bodiless, another anti-bodiless, and the other two argued for and against the ruling. It ended up where all who were initially for the ban were going back to reconsider their stance. I have also talked to a couple other committee members who were against the ruling but did not want to be named.

The reasoning is that running bodies will make the class more appealing to newcomers, and that it will help drive the sales of the big manufacturers that sponsor the national events.

And body manufactures to be tempted to sponsor as well.

Shame the ONLY crawler body that looks like a crawler body is stock Creeper shell.

You know what is more intimidating than a bodieless rig?
Knowing that even though your a new driver, you have to drive your very limited or stock truck on courses designed to challenge the 2.2 pro class...

How is that drawing in new members?
Oh wait then tell those new members,"sorry, you can't have those fancy capable bodieless chassis those pro guys have...but here is your stock ax10 on the same course...good luck!"

Proline used to be a major sponsor. An incident a couple of years ago killed that relationship.

You can guess who the powers that be are trying to cozy up to.

Agreed. That is why, on the local level, new drivers are given a handicap to keep them in the game. They get longer time limits and wider points spreads.

I forget how many courses I didn't finish during my first comp with my lightly modified AX10. I do know that as soon as it was over I went directly to the LHS and bought a Hitec servo, a Rockstar body, and Rovers. After that I went home and logged on here to see what else I needed to do.

I personally tink that it is crap that alot of the members want to ban bodiless rigs. It doesnt just kill the footballs of today, it also kills any of the old kickass tubers that have been collecting dust on someones shelf. I missed the vote in rules as I was out of town with no ability to get connected. I just got pmed today about this new poll and I say power to the people.

I have been trying to get everyone to listen to my reasonings about why to not ban bodiless though in Rules committee there is alot of oposition wether it be personal prefferance ect. I myself am about not restricting the class and leaving guys the ability to build what they want!!
