The Holmes Puller Pro BL 540XL 3500kv the YETI Grail?

You guys going to run 2s or 3s? I would like a little more speed out of my Yeti (already running 17/60), didn't know how the HH Puller liked 3s. Would be great to get good speed an a little bit of low end control on the cheap.

I'm running it on 3s which equates to 38,850 rpm at 11.1 volts, I believe Holmes said the motors max rpm was 50,000. For gearing I'm running 18/64 with under drive gears front and rear, and it's fast.

I took it out for another run today and one of the first things I noticed was how much more control I had in the air to correct a bad landing (nose dive) just goose the throttle and nose down becomes nose up.

Well fellas I did it, ordered the full combo w/castle BEC today! I am about to start the build thread so to anyone who's interested there will be a photo install to see when it arrives.

Npcaldwell, thanks brother your input here has been a real inspiration and that little shove I needed to get me off the fence! Keep up the updates and insights"thumbsup"

I'm going to be running on 3s. Stock gear ratio.

Nice! I ordered mine yesterday in the A.M. with ESC, BEC, and motor, (with added waterproofing to both BEC and ESC and their free soldering service) and I got an "order shipped" notification the same afternoon. That's pretty amazing.

They also have quickly answered several emails from me. If this is an indication of their service they have a customer in me for life. The quality of their motors/servos speak for themselves. Can't wait to try out the Puller Pro.

We have been running the MMP and HH BL 3500kv combo for a few weeks now and it is great. We are running it on the stock gearing and has done great things for the Yeti.

We are having a hard time keeping both the MMP and the HH BL 3500 in stock! We have more on the way and more going out today! If your looking for a great motor ESC combo, this is the way to go!

Time has been hard to come by lately but I got around to throwing together the MMP and the Holmes BL 540XL...

HH pre-soldered/waterproofed the BEC and ESC, also soldered the motor leads. Freakin awesome.

Got it all wired up and installed and calibrated the MMP. Very easy.

I had no daylight but of course I had to run it outside just to see what it had. I believe my words were "Jesus Tapdancin Christ!" It blows the stock ESC and motor away. So much power. This was with default MMP settings as well. I will make some changes tomorrow with the software, but jeeeeezzz...it blew me away. I'm running sticky RC4WD Iroks and on pavement it will literally backflip with a punch of the throttle. Then slow it down and it will crawl right along with serious torque.

I don't have a lot of experience with other motors but I just don't see how it gets better for the Yeti. Maybe the Pro4 HD performs similarly?

Holy shit dude I am getting excited seeing the good results. Tax return comes in a week and this setup is gonna make my wraith one crazy beast.

I ordered one to try out.

What kind of temps are you guys seeing with the stock ratio on 3s?

My temp gauge is broken but after one pack the motor was just warm to the touch. I wasn't giving it hell, though. I hope to stretch it's legs more with a few packs in the next few days.

I'm currently shopping around for a powerplant for my freshly built Yeti and have looked at the HH brushless and Tekin Pro4 HD. The price and specs are pretty close, does anyone have an opinion as to how they compare in actual performance?

I'm running underdrives front and rear with 18/64 pinion and spur, I think that would be just barely slower than stock. The hottest I've seen it is this, touch the motor and count one...two...three...four...five then need to pull finger away, I had ran it hard for maybe ten minutes prior. Motor is amazing!

I'm going to need to replace the rear locker due to a popping sound. I also need to shorten the ABC wires, but thinking about keeping the plugs.

^^^^^^^^^your gonna use corrosionX and waterproof an already waterproofed motor^^^^^^^^^^ motor comes with a 1 year warranty and its waterproofed I wouldn't mess with it and void the warranty till it is out of warranty.

I only used corrosion X on the ESC. One of the big selling points was that this motor was already waterproofed.

I did design this motor around being used in a Yeti as the primary function, so I can confirm it is a pretty dang good match.

For people wondering about the internal difference between a Pro4, Pro4 HD, and the Puller Pro XL, here are some numbers from our last measurements.

Stator length:

"Old Standard" 540 = 21mm

Puller Pro 540s/ roc412/ Pro4 15mm
Puller Pro 540 24mm
pro4 HD 25mm
Puller Pro XL 34mm

Also look at the motor weights. 10 oz for the Puller XL. 7.8 ounces for the Pro4 HD. The difference is magnet, steel, and copper!
