The progression of my XR10 into a Berg.

Michigan drivers get first dibs right??:ror: nice meeting you last week btw

It was good to meet you too. "thumbsup"

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
If things end up moving forward I will be looking for 3-4 (local) drivers to see if they can find a weak point in them. After a successful beta testing period I will have the initial run of parts made. The one factor I have yet to work out is the funding. I earn a fair wage and have few expenses at the moment but I dont have $5-10k to front for a production run and I dont like the idea of selling a product that doesnt exist with an expected arrival date that is nothing more than a number that sounds good at the moment like many small vendors seem to do. That is why I would like to "partner" up with a retailer to make this idea become a reality.

Very nice, we do still need to have a little meeting;-)
Later,
Farmer

Tell me when and where....

Please don't turn this into a feeler thread so we have to delete it.

The revised mount is on the right. It still needs some to be weight removed and cleaning up...

However, the shocks bind up pretty bad even with spacers at the chassis so things could get tricky while trying to free up the range of motion and keep the chassis stable.

Don't be afraid to space the shocks out another .25" in the rear at the chassis. It makes a big difference in how smooth the rear axle articulates

Thanks for the tip! Just to clarify, are you saying add another 6mm to the existing 6mm that I have per side now or add an additional 3mm to each side for a total of 6mm + the existing 12mm or 15mm per side/30mm total past the 1.625" main frame width?

Depending on where the shock/control arm mounts end up on the axle, I was thinking about running between 8 and 10mm of spacer between the shock ball and the frame but not so much that the shocks hang out past the side plates that have the deflectors on them.

One thing I can say for certain is that the SA is not a berg friendly chassis unless you're willing to work to find that sweet spot where the axles need to be mounted. So far I'm on my 3rd set of lower link mounts and 3.5th set of control arms with at least one more round to go before the final link lengths can be taken and the correct links bent up.

I have been working on getting the pro line scaler shocks packaged but I might end up having to ditch them if an internal limiter doesn't make them short enough to have the ride height end up where I like it.

So what you're saying is that in order to simply TALK about an idea amongst friends, I have to buy a vendor star?

To me, it sounds like you are fishing for potential suitors to purchase your design.

If you were just talking about design aspects of your build, I'm sure EP wouldn't have a problem. You could always PM your friends about you potential business ventures.

But hey, carry on as you wish. If the mods feel you crossed the line, you've been warned, so don't bitch if the thread gets deleted.

You seem to be assuming that I don't know where to draw the line when it comes to soliciting a product. IF I were to pursue the manufacturing and sale of components I would absolutely take the required steps to stay within the forums rules. At this point, there is nothing but talk of an idea coming to reality and the one factor that I am perfectly clear on, has not been brought up and I have no intention of bringing it up.

And for the record, I'll be extremely suprized if I can find anyone to make the parts for less than a small fortune so as far as I'm concerned, this is a dead topic.

If the mods feel that deleting this thread is justified based on the content in question, that is their call to make.

6mm more on each side. I am currently 21mm off the chassis plate on each side and it's very smooth

WOW! I didn't realize I was missing out on so much! I currently have 6mm per side on my XR. It's a little sloppy but Im also running 20w oil in scx10 shocks. Maybe I'll do some more tuning on the XR and see how things go.

How wide is your shock mounting at the axle end?

Once I get a few hours to kill I am going to try and finalize the suspension on this thing. I'll post up some pics in the next day or two. "thumbsup"

Shocks leaning in = progressive feeling to the shock. More straight up the dampening is more linear.

Either works, but obviously based on your driving and rest of the truck set up you have to adjust this to best suit you.

It's all about the motion ratio!

Progressive, linear, digressive, I have no idea what works on these cars. I'm guessing somewhere between linear and mildly progressive is the sweet spot but an overdriven front and a digressive spring rate could make for a car that stays planted very well until the traction is lost and in that case you usually need the break over which would come into play. This could be a topic worth experimenting with. Laying the shocks over a lot front to rear can accomplish this easily. But I am digging the pro line scalers, they are extremely smooth and the volume of air is just right to give them a nice adjustable slightly to very progressive rate without a spring.

I have recently gained some trust for the SA bodiless chassis and I made the decision to run this one bodiless with some slight width modifications to make it look exactly how I would like it. I decided to take my thoughts for a design to Michelle at Krawler Koncept and here is what she came up with for me. I wanted it to kind of look like a WWII fighter plane, I gave her some examples and thoughts and she made it a reality.

As for the rest of the car. In a couple weeks I'll probably have everything in my possession to make it function. In the last two days I have broken a 2.5mm tap drill, a $30 m3 tap and a $20 m3 tap. So, things have been extremely frustrating and progress has not been very good.

I'm very close to just buying a set of tubes to run until I feel like fighting with this 7075 any more. I'm tempted to go back to 6061 for link mounts, if I trusted the threads at all I would have done it a while ago. I'm going to look into M3 helicoils as an option.

If I remember right on 7075, you need a slightly larger ID drill than the 2.5mm they call out to help with better tool life.

Panels look awesome!

Decided to play with the width of the wheel spacers, looks like I'll still have room for the amount weight I plan to run.

looks great man, are you planning on running those blue springs? i went with the agent chassis after all. looks like theyll be quite a few michigan bergs rockin this chassis 8)

Plenty of room for SA's to take second! :lmao:

Just kidding the SA is a great chassis, you guys will love it.

Those are the MRC blues, I like how they feel in the rear with the shocks laid over a lot but they are way too stiff for the front. I have the MRC silvers all around on my XR and they are about right. I may swap silvers to the front of the berg but for now, its close enough. I used the mini-t reds on my big bores for the couple times I ran those on the SA. I like having the ability to add/remove preload with the longer MRC's so if I can make the smaller diameter shocks work I will be sticking with something mentioned above.

It still has a long way to go!!!!
