The progression of my XR10 into a Berg.

I have a bunch of the RC18T springs and some of the mini-t springs if you need some. See you Sunday?

you can simply put a spacer under the spring cup and run the shorter springs and gain preload adjustment back

Good tip! I had forgotten about making some of these spacers to try out the shorter springs.

As for my preload reference, I was speaking in terms of shocks and avoiding swapping back to the big bores. I love the way the big bores work and feel but the limited spring choices and no easy preload adjustment have kept me away from going back.

I'm thinking about making some one piece rear shafts to give me some more room to get the snap ring in and out without pulling the hex but I'm sick of making parts so that idea is probably going to get back burner'd for a while..... Time to mount the servo!

Looks great man, can't wait to see it in person!

I'll bring it on sunday. "thumbsup" Hopefully it'll be a little closer to drivable than it was for the last comp! And who knows, maybe I'll even get to drive it in a couple more months.... It turned into way more of a project than I wanted to take on originally. :x

I'm not entirely sure why, but I ordered a special ops chassis this morning... Maybe I'll build ANOTHER berg once this one is finished! I'm hoping I can get my dad interested in these things so I'll probably build it up for him. I'm thinking that I'll just buy those parts so if I want to I can do some very realistic A-B comparisons for the chassis, axles, tires, link setups, etc.

I'll probably start another thread in a month or two when I get this thing wrapped up.

As for where it is now, I mounted the servo the other day, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out but I'm sure I will be able to come up with a lighter and more rigid mount once I take some time to think it over. To get it into a drivable state I still need front shafts (which should be in the mail as of today), an hour of machining to put the retaining ring grooves in the tubes and to take some more material off the flange, link mounts finished, electronics fitted and installed, battery plate, milled cases and some creative front links/shock mounts to allow for the amount of steering I want to run without any rubbing on anything.

Aaannnnnndddd.......

That's my luck.

You better go repent for your sins bro. You're cursed.

Looking at the list of available options that SDS is offering for those, I have no idea what setup that is even for. My best guess is that you got one XR and one AX

It's not just this year.... It's an ongoing thing for me for as long as I can remember. Murphy's Law wherever it's applicable.

Anyways, it's almost done, just need to finish up a few small details and then I'm done building/modifying these things. It's turning out to be more expensive than the real deal.

I need to post an "almost finished" pic of this thing.... It's look probably isn't for everyone but I'm digging it with my new wheels! Nailed the look I was going for.

If things go smoothly this weekend and I'm able to get what I want done, ill slap it back together for a poser shot.

I'm excited to finish it after 4 months!

Maybe a lil....

I'm not sure if I want to finish the front tubes or run what's there but I need to readdress my circlip axle retention method... Turns out the 8mm shaft is too big for the 12mm circlip. I can modify the clip or see if a better alternative is available.

If nothing else, it may not be drivable but ill have it at the state comp in an otherwise finished state.

I can't wait to see this thing man!!! And don't feel too bad, I won't have mine done either.... Should be worth the wait, and at least we should have them ready for this winters indoor series!

Ignore the hovering panels, I didn't have time to put them on and then pull them off.

Rear axle is done, just needs grease. Still needs some wires, knuckle weights and a battery tray.

Rowdy's plate worked real good for my build. Its nice it has adjustment as I know I needed it to get my positioning all nice and set.
