What did you do to/with your Ascender today

Trimmed up some wheel wells from some gallon jugs.

Also mounted up the wheels and bumper I made.

Either you are making stuff at work or you have your own very nice equipment in your garage? Really nice detail on that bumper!

Started painting my new hilux body. The color is called haze grey. The cab section still has film on it. I’m going to spray the bed, rockers and fenders with bedliner.

Brand of paint, please sir?

I'm getting in a body for a non-Ascender down the road, and would love to use this color... "thumbsup"

Tamiya paint. Iv been looking for it for awhile. It’s kind of a semi gloss cement color

Thanks, TS-32 Tamiya Acrylic... found it!

What did you spray as an adhesion promoter for Lexan, if I might ask?

Hmmm... Worried about lifespan of the paint, as it's not from Tamiya's PS polycarbonate line. Their TS acrylics are for hardbodies. Looks great, hopefully it stays that way!

Yeah I made that mistake with my 4Runner body and didn’t realize until after I painted it and it went on fine and haven’t had any issues with it. I really wanted this color and couldn’t find it in their ps line of paint.

I have heard you can spray ps clear coat first, it sticks to the lexan, then spray what ever ts colour you want and it sticks to the clear coat. Haven’t don’t it myself, just heard something somewhere.

I've used automotive acrylic enamel on a couple of mine and they're holding up pretty well. I always do a thorough prep - wash out the inside with dish soap and a scotchbrite pad, just stay away from the windows. ;)

Here are two of them, but niether one gets run very hard. The Wrangler got the harder treatment and some cracking has started along rockers, behind the wheels. Otherwise they've held up pretty well. I did not use an adhesion promotor on either, bulldog, marhyde, etc. I have a long history in auto painting as a hobbiest/custom painter.

I've got myself Tamiya PS clear and a couple cans of TS paints because one of my main pet peeves in R/C is the complete and utter lack of earthtones in polycarbonate-compatible paint.

Really chaps my hide!

Are we not out of the effin' '80s yet - we are not all driving things that we want only primary or neon colors on!

I want olive, tan, dull grey, etc... "thumbsup"

(rant mode off...)

Another winters day, indoor activities only. Decided to add some tech to the build. Prototype finished using an Arduino UNO which has native PWM support, code finished for switching relay for lights and a six-axis MPU , temp sensor and an LCD for motor temps, pitch etc...

Got the inside of my new body bedlined just have the fenders and inside of bed left to do. Hoping to get it done tomorrow, if not it will have to wait another week. I forgot I ordered one of these from RPP and it finally came off backorder.
