What did you do to/with your Ascender today

Was finally able to really test my new km3’s. I still think the hyrax are better in rocks. On one of the trails where it’s a pretty steep climb these were spinning looking for traction where the hyrax climb up it no problem. Everywhere else though they did really good. I think if you’re in mostly rock you can’t beat the hyrax. I also think the KM3’s are better then the super swampers in rocks but not as good in sand and mud. You can’t beat the swampers if you’re mostly in those conditions. I had to cut it short cause it was getting dark, I didn’t want to run into any snakes on the way back down. Can’t wait until winter.

Proline Silverado body with modified (shortened) Ascender truggy cage.
Cody axles, Proline Predator Swampers, HW1080 esc, DS3218 servo, outboarded shocks with Trujillo mod. Class-2 comp rig.

Finally got around to replacing the stock plastic C hubs and spindles with some alloy ones, steering feels locked in and solid now. New tyres, front axles and steering parts ready for comp day sunday!

The 'boom' stuff is okay huh?
You find them to be more rigid, stronger? Seems like the SSD weighted ones had more benefit, but $60 for a set seemed excessive to me, especially since I already have the codyboy axles.

I don't know how they will be, they are much more rigid than the stock plastic parts and they fitted great! bearings pressed in nicely, the little bushings in the spindles pressed in nicely, no slop or clearance issues!

I've had good luck with boom racing parts. Honestly better than the new VP parts. I had VP on my other non-vaterra rig and they were sloppy. Switched to the boom racing and they fit perfectly.

Finally got a set of knuckles, they have some really good heft to them and look good too.

They are from ssd, I think they are just brass with a silver coating. Going round 2 with the hilux body. After spaying it with bedliner I’m guessing the paint shrunk and it started to crack in some areas and just eat through the paint cause I had some clear spots in the corners. I used the same tamiya ts paint on another body then used bedliner over it and never had any issues. I did use a different bedliner so I’m guessing that had something to do with it. Anyways I just cut out a new body and going to just do white and black. I might just bedline the other one on the outside and use it for a different project

Not sure if I’m going to keep the stripes. Still have to spray the inside of the bed with bedliner and I’ll probably put my other set of wheels and bfg’s on.

The stripes are growing on me, I think I’ll keep them but need to put the black wheels back on. Was hoping to take it out today but I have to replace the rear axle seal in my 1:1 k10. Hopefully I’ll have time later today.

Jeffery and Walter took Donnie out for a ride the other day before Little League practice... Sorry, no pics from that trip....

However, I finally got around to getting a shot of #3 wearing some new shoes...

Between work, coaching L.L. baseball, being a "responsible homeowner" and everything else, it is amazing that I remember to charge batteries every once in a while....
