Would you buy a V6 Camaro?

I'm with Kenny, 300 horses is plenty for a DD. My only concern would be the direct injection. GM rarely gets something that complex right the first time around. As a GM buyer it'll be your privilege to work on the product development team for no pay.

with a puchase of any new vechile. what are it's true uses. insurance. and mpg. a 4-wheel drive truck is almost 50% more than it's 2-wheel drive conterpart on insurance alot of the time. a vechile that wont get customed, modded, or tweaked, and drove on a daily basis, a v6 would be a better option over a v8.

In before Stang killer ss.

Yeah..cant believe he hasnt posted yet.
Being a Camaro fan, Id love to have one of the new ones. I love the looks. BUT..Being an SS owner currently, dont think i could buy a V6. Yes it has lots of power, but knowing the V8 has lots more. Cant do it.
If your 100% sure you're not worried about the power difference and you like the looks..etc JUST DO IT (and post pics:mrgreen:)

Get the V8, or wait for the Z/28. You will be disappointing with the V6. And don't get a challenger, they are turds.

The only V6 I would ever take would be a 4.3 with a turbo.

If you want to be that guy that bought a V6 Camaro, then go be that guy. :ror:

Who takes the smaller engine choice?

Silly question.

if your not looking to do racing etc. just want a nice decent fast car, youll love it. they did a great job on the new ones. the RS halo headlights are just stick!

The 09 WRX Hatch/Sedan outrun the V6 pretty easy, without 2 cylinders and are obviously more roomy, lower insurance yet, and AWD with more standard features. Quarter mile in 13.4.

The v6 Camaro isn't bad though. They did give it quite a bit of power and it does run solid 14's.

Up here in Michigan I can tell you AWD FTW all day long. But I don't think you'll have quite the issue with snow.

As a mechanic, I think I'd go look at the imprezza wagon again. GM has improved a lot over the years, but I still don't trust them to make a decent car. Trucks are a different story, but their cars are money pits. Stu is right, you don't want to be a product tester for the GDI, and you don't want to pay insurance on the V8 at 24. You'll have no problems at all getting 200k+ out of the imprezza and it'll probably have better resale value than the V6 camaro and better gas millage, and a wagon is dramatically more practical.

Just my .02

At first I was gonna say go with the V8 but I did not realize the V6 was 300+ HP.

My Daily Driver is an Infiniti G35x and it comes in right around 300 also. I am more than satisfied with the performance in my daily travels. It gets up to speed faster than allot of cars out there and does well when I need to pass someone. I would guess the Camaro would perform very similar to it.

I also agree that the insurance and MPG would be better on the V6. I am not a huge chevy fan but I think the Camaro is a sweet looking ride V8 or not. Its more important in this financial enviornment to live within your means than to spend the additional money on something that does not help you make more money.

That's downright un-american! Fawkin commie trying to convince people to be fiscally responsible. I'm calling homeland security on you.:flipoff:

And that my friend is why I have a 4100 SF house with a 3 car garage and 2 of my 3 cars and my Jet Ski are completely paid off at 33. :flipoff:

This type of thinking made it possible for me to walk in to the Ford dealership earlier this year and pay cash for my wifes 2008 fully loaded Ford Explorer limited. It will also enable me to retire as a multi millionaire in my early 50's regardless of the economy.

That additional money he spends on the V8 could have recouped an 18%-20% return on investment in 2009 despite what people say about the economy. I have some investments that YTD are at a 68% return on investment. When you have 6 or 7 figures in your investment portfolio you will understand where I am coming from.

In 2007 Warren Buffet was still driving his 2001 Lincoln Town Car so in response to the above pictures this guy also says its alright to buy a V6 Camaro.

jus my .02 but why buy a musclecar without the muscle? and if im not mistaken the V8 have that cylinder cutout thing that drops it to 4cyl to give you better gas mileage on the interstate. i dont know how much diffence this makes but that kinda kicks the better gas mileage complaint in the jimmy. resale value on a v8 will be night and day to a V6 also.

as far as challenger.... they are huge!!! they weigh more than the old ones that were made out of steal. and they sit too high off the ground, theylook like a 4x4

Price is a huge factor to me right now. Kenny have you driven one?

No doubt would I love a Challenger, I'm a Dodge guy before Chevy. I've driven both a V8 and a V6 model Challenger. The V6 was gutless to say the least. The V8 is great, but getting one for under $30k is not going to happen.

Chevrolet is actually calling the Camaro a "Sports Coupe" and not a muscle car... and I'm only 24, still plenty of time to have fun later.

Damn young folks being technical, its a "Sports Coupe". We consider Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers "Muscle Cars". :flipoff:By the way I'm only a couple of years older than you, so no I'm not a Old Guy talking about the good old days.
