I bought a 97 model tj in june of 96. It was a daily driver but since 2000 its a trail rig only. My family and I wheel in KY, TN, and AR. Not much here in MS.

Before I got married and settled down, I used to go camping with my roommates. One had a '91 (at the time) 'Yota w/3" lift, Lock-rite in the rear and 30-somethings. Fun driving on the street, having to coast around corners. Another had an '85, and the third had a '76 CJ-5. We'd go camping at Icehouse during the summer, and to participate in Amatuer Radio Field Day. I got to drive sometimes, but it was more fun riding the 3-wheeler or my motorcycle.

I had a interesting experience tonight while runing my trails. Heres the situation ive got a trail through a fairly nice swamp 1 1/2 ft of mud and a bunch of water, ive run it many times even the day before with no problem but i rode it today and i find myself in a hole in the middle of the trail about 4ft deep enough to swallow the entire left front of the truck. this was never there before its like it has appeared within a day because i drove it a day ago.Im the only one who wheels this trail so its not made by someone else.So im asking where do you think this came from? It seems rather strange. sorry for being off topic i just did'nt want to start a new thread for this |

I've been into the off road thing all my life. I was born and raised in So. Cali. Spent ALOT of time at Glamis with the 4wheelers and sandrails. Raced desert races on my Honda 250R 4wheeler and Suzuki LT500 4wheeler for 4 years and was bigtime into the desert racing thing. Moved to Tennessee 8 years ago and got into wheelin 4X's. I rode my Scout II for 5 years till there wasn't anything left of it I've now got my Toyota crawler that I spent about a year and a half building up myself. She's got 5" All Pro springs, fullwidth axles from a Chevy Blazer with 4:56 gears and locked at both ends,OBA,dual transfer cases, hysteer steering, front shackles in the front,14" travel shocks, rear disc,EXO cage,15 gallon fuel cell,Doug Thorley header and a Flowmaster,Jacobs ignition,38mm Weber carb and a little yellow tree. She's wearing 35's now :( . I've changed the cage a little and trimmed the fenders out some, needed to make room for 38's. Hopefully soon I can get some 38x12.50x15 TSL's Not long ago me,my son and CSR met at Winrock and rode for the day. I had a blast that day, great place to ride, even if it does rain most of the day CSR's rig IS very clean and works extremely well, hopefully we can get together again someday and ride some more. |

I wheel every now and then This car will be used in the Supercrawl, and then it will be retired. We've been working our asses off building a new car, and will debut it at SEMA this year inside one of our sponsors booths. |

Yes, I've been rock crawling in my Defender 90 a few times but to be honest, there isn't that many places with rocky trails in the UK. Most of the trails near me are just deeply rutted, muddy tracks through woods etc. Biggest problem is not sliding sideways into a tree or falling down the deep drainage ditches/culverts that run parallel to the tracks for many miles. We need maximum under diff clearance to avoid bellying out on the raised ground between the ruts so we run 33"-36" tyres and no skid protection on the diffs. The skid plates reduce clearance and every inch counts! |
