| Robbobs next level of scale Tundra style
Idle hands are a killer and I was getting the itch to do another Tundra and bring some new things to my plate .............. My last Tundra gave me so many more ideas and taught me a lot about building a leafed rig that I knew I wanted to do another one but change things up a bit. I started my planning early for this build and now that the Bowtie build is done and in its owners hands I started getting everything together. First I went out looking for a frame ..... found one in the woods and dragged it home. But after a little clean up and frame work I got it together. With the hook up from Mike, 1BadJeepBruiser, I was able to stretch out the frame for my wheelbase. cab sits perfect now The axles were in some rough shape from that old frame so got them cleaned up and torn apart for inspection. (aka went with some Yota axles from RC4WD, went with their Brusier version for the rear so the leaf mounts would line up. the workmanship on these is incredible ) grabbed some leaf wedges to help lift the pinions up out of the way and take strain off the drive train. also threw some chino springs on the rear military wraps got the front mounted, got to get some more wedges to help the pinion angle a bit. time for some cab work ..... lets start with the hood . still some work to do but its a start. letting the hood sit for a bit its cab time ....... started the radiator supprt and onto the window cowl area cant forget the hood latch ..... well not much to start the thread with but Ill have some more updates soon .....got a lot of ideas on what I want to throw at this thing ...... thanks for looking. |

looks like a good start, just wondering if you are going to brace the frame where you added to it?

gotten some more done on this one and thought id throw some more pics up for it. back to the hood ...... got my grill attached but wanted to step out from the normal. digging around I found a TRD Tacoma and liked the grill on it .... where to start ..... no turning back now while i was in there i thought it was a good time to open up the radiator support and add my radiator now thats some air flow time for the fun filler and sanding more pics of that to follow ..... so while that was all curing i jumped into the cab for some work. dont want anything poking me while im driving and started the oh so fun curved cab back . this will be #3 for Tundra backs ive done and after each one i keep telling myself there has to be an easier way. so letting the glue cure and the filler dry i went to my door panels and started our inner cab frame work, basically pulling any upholstery we dont need but still gonna have some driver comfort. we got our roof support and a-pillars done .... yes a-pillars with extra care because we all know what happens when you dont support them no horn this time but im taking my time with this dash .... hoping my plans come together. what would bodywork be with Bondo onto some frame stuff ....... sticking to my ne3ed to hide everything im going with the mini e-revo tranny for the t-case. im also looking to hide that servo on the steering and keep a smooth high belly clearance also got my front towers done and my motor/gru mounts and that start to my floorboards well thats it for now .... taking it easy so i dont short myself or destroy it to easily later thanks for looking ...... always more to go |
