Default Floor

Wow, not much feedback on the winch vids. Oh well.

Did a little Styrene work.
Floor. Cut out around transfer and where battery will sit between rear shocks.
Fender walls act as interior detail, and as exterior, underbody walls.
Gives me 1/4" under the floor for ESC, Servo and lighting wires.
Snaps itself down into place very nicely under rolled upper edge of body.

Default Paint

One pain in the aaaa...............ah let's just call him....... Jim , is pushing for two tone paint. I am terrible at paint and it will be a pain to do.

But I'm leaning towards.........

Dark Metallic Red with white upper (above molding line in body)

or a Copper-Orange with white upper

Which one?
Kids like the copper orange.
But if I prime with red rust colored primer and paint it red metallic scratches won't show as much.

This is when dry. I'll have to see after a dunking

Here I am holding down on the stinger with 10-15lbs of force to get the slipper to kick.
First video comes up as private when I try to watch it.

Default Paint..............Decisions Decisions Decisions

So I was pretty much settled on Dark Red Metallic lower with White Metallic upper.
Now I found so many cool colors on the Duplicolor site.

Duplicolor Metal Specs Retro Red................
Dupli-Color :: Metal Specks

Duplicolor Mirage Red/Blue
Dupli-Color :: Mirage

Or select a metallic red from their OEM colors and put their Mirage ICE over it (color changing clear coat).............picture the colors below, but over red instead of silver............

add metallic
Dupli-Color :: Effex

Night time effects
Dupli-Color :: Nite Lites

This thing is absolutely awesome. the PTO winch is my favorite part. Did you ever consider moving or lengthening the wheel wells so they would line up with your axles better and make it look a little more stock. Don't get me wrong the rig is bitchin. Just wondering. I like the red and white combo. Would love to have one of these winches for a future project. Keep up the great work.

Thx for the comments oncool54!

I have no sheet metal skills to even begin moding the body that far. I had thought about using the body to make a styrene vac mold of and then mod that.

BTW, what is your 54?
thx again!

Default Back to the interior - Dash

Summer finally got here. Little League is wrapping up. Yardwork kicked off.
But I got back to the basement and some interior work.

Some stock photos
- Painted metal dash with Black vinyl(?) wrapped around the top and sides.
- The radio area is inset at the top.

Little rough in spots.
Going with aftermarket round gauges.
Hump around trans disconnect.
Hole is for shift linkage - does stick out, but passenger will help hide it.
Raised front edge allows it to literally 'snap' into place, between the floor and hood that has a crease in that area.

Default Rear Grill

Slow going.............summer is officially here.
Yard, house, camping, crawling.

Did not want to glue the tail lenses directly to the steel (after paint).
Thought about two little panel surrounds.
Then some guards.
Then thought about not having to putty the dovetail weld seam.
(my brazing could still use some work)

Default Battery Cover

Battery is going to sit between the rear fenders.
Right now it is a 3s 1400mah little brick.

So I need to hide it ..................

Fuel Cell / spare tire holder.
The little Losi rock basher spare, just fits. Might change it out in the future.
Brazed T handle holds it to a Delrin angled block, to the foamcore and styrene cell.

Two rare earth magnets:

Default Fuel Cell

Back (you grip the Thandle or tire and pull up and back to get it out.)
