He did agree to do it. I just spent 4 and a half days broke down in Indianapolis though. I had a $1900 repair bill for it. It's going to take a few weeks to recover from that. I'm like most of us, I want it done now! Lol! But I truly am waiting on something that another member is making for it too and it needs to be painted with the body. So we'll just have to wait and see how time and money goes.

Chevy Crewcab Dually Build

Oh, this is something I came across this weekend at a local hobby shop. I've got a guy building a gooseneck trailer for me! So I found the scale chain that GearHear sells and grabbed some. But how would you tighten it down? Or at least make it look like it was actually bound down? Well, I figured it out! The red one is a real chain binder. The silver one is the one that I made. I'm sent GearHead an email asking if they would sell me some of the hooks that they use on their scale chain, that's where I got the hooks from, but no response yet. I just have to figure out a handle and paint them now!http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/08/te3ybyte.jpg

That turnbuckle setup with the chain looks killer, really like the look of the old school dually, can't wait to see painted!

So I guess you let the cat out of the bag on what you are waiting for? :ror:

The trailer? Not sure if you mentioned it before.

Hwheeler73 05-09-2014 05:37 PM

Well, I am waiting on a trailer. It's being built right now. But that isn't what's holding up the paint job. Nope! It is something that actually goes on the body.

Hwheeler73 05-09-2014 05:40 PM

Maybe I should just spray it with flat black primer and call it good? Lol!

Thank you! Yah, I understand! I've already got 2 more builds that I want to do! I'm working on this one, and a non-crawler, and the never ending Wraith!

No. It's going to be a gooseneck. The only thing that will be on the truck is a 6mm ball on the floor of the bed. I'm not that ambitious to build a scale fifth wheel hitch! LOL!

Well, while it was broke down in Indianapolis last weekend, I went to a Hobby Town up on the north side of town just to see what they had. Wen I pulled in, they had all kinds of different RC's running around the parking lot. So I grabbed my Wraith and went to play around. Well this guy starts videoing it and asking me questions about it. Then I need up telling him about the dually. I got it out to show him and he started videoing it too. He was a really nice guy and told me to look for him on YouTube. Well I got on there tonight, and they are both in his video! My Wraith comes into the video at 12:14 followed by the dually.

When you're gonna build your gooseneck let me know i have one. Even have a detachable neck so the trailer can be a tow behind.

I almost bought one from them! I just didn't like the way the did their mount system. I tried to call them a few times but they would never answer. I found a guy that was willing to actually build one for me. He is in the process right now. Thanks for the offer though. A couple of months ago I probably would have bought it from you!

The guy that i bought it from is really a one man army, does all the work himself. He builds killer stuff and frankly he's very busy. I shot him an email first and then got his personal phone. These are completely custom and no 2 are the same lol hence why mine is the only one he's ever built with 12 leds and the detectable neck. Sucks that you couldn't reach him but least you found someone else! good luck mate

So I had a few minutes today and decided to tackle something that I really wanted to do but was really dreading! It's a Chevy and Chevys have rain gutters over the windows! So now mine has them too! It actually wasn't too bad. I used 1.5mm styrene angle to do it. I started at one end and used CA glue to tack it to the body. Then I heated the angle A LITTLE BIT! This stuff is so small that half a second too long with the heat and it turns into gel! Anyway, that's how I did the bends. I just kept tacking it as I went. After it's painted, ( Yes fr8cture, it will be painted... Someday! LOL!) I'll use chrome vinyl on the edge. It should look pretty close to the real thing!
