Default Imthatguy's 1989 Range Rover Classic

I'm the proud owner of the #2 body made.

The body was originally constructed from styrene, by Scale4x4.org forum member, elaguila45. And then somehow, magically, a perfect mould was made. Reproductions are in high impact resistant styrene. I'm getting the second one, ever. It should be here, just in time for me to start tinkering with it, once the FJ60 is done.

I'm tentatively setting it up for Class 1. Running Axial gear with a combination of GCM and RC4WD bits.

Stay tuned!

Wow, that's awesome! Owning a real one is on my vehicle bucket list, but my wife's Discovery isn't too bad a compromise for now. Are the wheels also going to be available?

I actually passed by one here in Alabama the other day and it was white with those same wheels. It looked delicious.

I need one now! Do me a favor and change the title. It annoyed me in his build when he called it an 87. It is not an 87. 87's have exposed hinges. The first year they were hidden was early to mid 89', there were a some early 89's that had exposed hinges. After that they were all hidden. He did such an awesome job on the original, I can't wait to see what you do to this one, I'll be watching! To be an 87 or 88 like mine it's fenders should look like this I'm sure you're good enough to make it happen!:

Ben
Thanks guys. I'm pretty stoked. So here it is!

First impressions, it's big. Bigger than I was expecting. Tire tuck, for a stock look, should be pretty easy to accomplish.

N00b and I believe that it was cast via a process called rotocasting. Pretty neat stuff, look it up. There's a few bubbles here and there in the fine detail, but overall, it looks fantastic. I'm very happy.

Both bumpers, light buckets, lenses, mirrors, are all included.

Here it is next to a D90. Big.

Now, to finish that pesky FJ60 so I can get going on this. My first task, determine whether or not I can cut/dremel the windows out!

Starting to make things happen finally.

Planning on going a little extreme with this one.

I think you need to look at the instructions for that SCX10 again. Yours doesn't look right.

This is going to be fun to watch! I'm anxious to see how the SCX10 axles fit under the body.

Wow.... You can get away with just about any tire on that big boy! I'm excited for this one.

There were a lot of left over pieces. That's always a good sign, right?

I'll think you'll be quite happy. Width is spot on.

Thanks, yes, the first one had a lot more going for it. It was a gorgeous scratch build. I'm just happy that I have a copy to play with.

You would think that, but I think I might have pushed my luck.

Got the chassis and linkages setup today. Plopped some Pitdogs on it that scale out to 35's. Seems big.

Wheelbase is spot on. Just over 12".

Nice, narrow track. If I wasn't mocking it up with these giant tires, I'd be willing to bet I could get a nice tuck going.

A little bigger than the Defender, but it still works. I believe they're in the same scale. 1:8.5
