Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug I’ve got white wall paint coming in the mail. You read my mind. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Bit more work on the engine. More paint and sanding still needed. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...547-66815.jpeg |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Wow. The bug is going to be crazy cool. Parts are looking amazing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Thanks man, it’s getting there. Now you go build one. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug That engine is looking sweet, I may have to buy those files. Do you recall how much it needs to be scaled down? |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug The files are for a 1/5 scale engine. I just scaled everything to 50%. Seems about right. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug So, just messing around with ideas for mirrors and came up with this. Still rough, needs refinement and a mounting post. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...547-66816.jpeg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...547-66817.jpeg |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Very Nice! I "like" Is that a sticker on the mirror or a different color filament? Its hard to tell from the picture |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug It’s a sticker right now. Gotta find something shiny to replace it. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug I'm also looking for shiny things, lol There must be an arts and crafts solution, I'm looking at tiny stickers on Amain and RPP for $5 but I imagine a big sheet could be had for that price. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Yeah, I’m sure they’re out there at a reasonable price for a sheet big enough to do a lifetime of mirrors. I’ve seen vinyl mirror stickers online but I want to see some in person before ordering. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug I was looking all over online for an appropriate plastic mirror but I was looking too far away. This morning I stumbled across a small mirror that came in a shaving kit on a shelf here at home. It’s only 0.9mm thick. Perfect! Took it to work and cut two 13mm circles out of it. Gotta love a laser cutter. Then added a small vinyl circle for a frame. Here’s the final result. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...547-66819.jpeg Now I’m reprinting the brackets in PETG. First crack at this so we’ll have to see how it goes. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Spent some more time getting the front links where I want them. Looking about right. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...547-66821.jpeg |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Mirrors are legit, seeing everyone make all these cool parts with a 3d printer really has me wanting one. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Thanks man! Need to refine them a bit and come up with a mounting system. Hopefully they'll be robust enough to survive any roll overs. Getting a 3D printer was the best thing I've done recently. Opens a lot of doors. Go get one! |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Quote:
Which printer did you end up going with? |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug I got an Anycubic Mega S. Love it. |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug Bit more work in the engine. Going to reprint the distributor cap as I've stuffed it up. Getting there though. Need to decide on paint colours for this Bug next. It's almost warm enough to paint outside. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4547-66828.jpg |
Re: Sand Scorcher Crawler - Another Bug I'm jealous all I have is a fake engine with 2 cylinders lol |
