scaleoffroads 1/10 scale working winch ... preview

I finally came up with an idea for an antenna. I used a right angle grease fitting. just drilled out the hole so the antenna tube would fit into it. drilled a hole in the side of the body, and tightend it together with a nut on the backside. Then ran the receiver wire throught the tube like normal.
what do you guys think?

ok another late night on this darn thing!! i am truly addicted!!
got the rear bumper and swing out gate almost finished. all thats left are closeing up the ends, d-ring mounts on the face of the bumper, some grinding and paint, but here ya go!
tire mount

with tire mounted (backside)

Drilled a hole in the top of the bumper were the pivot point will be.

Tire carrier mounted on the bumper.

Bolt down through the end though the bumper and used a nylon lock nut inside the bumper.

On the other end i cut out 2 little tabs, drilled a hole through each one and brazed them to the bumper.

The locking mechanism, a small pin, a spring, and a collar.

The spring and collar go in between the 2 tabs, then slide the pin though the whole assembly. tighten down the collar and walla a working swing out gate with lock!

The pin slides into the brakeline on the swing out carrier to hold it into place. the spring automatically pushes and holds the pin in with the help of the collar.

pull the pin to release the gate.
bedtime!!

Looks good. The body looks a little high but i think you said that you cant lower the body any more, right? But since that cant be done, why not make some kind of fender well? i think that would make it look tons better. Or if you cant do that, paint the frame and things black to make it look a little better. Thats what i would do.

Yeah fender wells are in the mix, i just haven't got to them yet, not high on my priority list. i thought about painting the frame, but its all together now, maybe when i tear it all down again i will spray it black. i kinda would like it black as well. I wish i would have done that in the beginning.

o boy another late night!! 2am!! :o time sure goes fast when building!! but i did get the front bumper pretty much done. Again, i need to do some grinding, fill the ends, and paint. But i am pretty happy with the results!!
ok here we go i started with some 1 1/2" angle iron, cut it done to size and cut about an inch off of one side.

Then i took a peice of small box tube and notched out the back so it would sit flush on the face of the angle iron.

cut some small tabs out of flat stockk for mounting tabs and welded it all together.

Quick mock up with the jeep and the winch to make sure its a good fit!!

Ok now on to the front hoop hood protector.

again a shot mocked up to check the fit.

Another little hoop on top

now i add the front stinger!!

and some supports to strengthen the whole thing

and finally some shots on the jeep with the winch

We heard there was some sort of camping cabin gathering down in the foot hills on TN for east coast championships, we decided to load up the wrangler and head on down!! look for live updates of the trip here, http://hawkeye.cybercious.com/wprc/v...php?f=83&t=450
well we are almost ready to hit the road, we got or sleeping bags, cooler, lantern, and paddles.

put the top back up and loaded up the canoe.

headed out, i told the wife to put some more clothes on, it may be cold down there and who knows who we will run into but she said she would tough it out, she aint scared of a little old hill billy.....
