Today I remove the shocks, skid, and axles so I could add some bracing and panel mounts. Also wanted to make some rock sliders. I'm not sure what the correct name is for the material, but it is used for slides on conveyor belts. It is hard and slick. I milled it on the table saw and router table. I would really like to use these quarter panels, but I think hanging out the way they will they will break up to easy. So I made some out of aluminum, I did a roof panel at the same time. The bottom of the quarter panels fit into the grove on the rock sliders ( the grove in the sliders will help lock the panels in). Next I added some 3mm nuts to attach the panels. And to finish off the day I built a spare tire mount. Thats it for today! Last edited by CODYBOY; 08-19-2015 at 10:19 PM. |

It has been a while, so thought I would do a update. I got some goodies in the mail today. Finished what I think is all the work on the chassis/cage. I built a battery mount, tabs for all the body panels, tabs for the radiator and rear lights. Also getting the hood ready to paint. So now it's time to sand blast and paint! OK, It has been awhile, so thought I would do a little update. I finally got up to Lunsford Racing to bead blasted the frame/chassis. Desided since the body panals are going to be "Safety Yellow" with some green highlights that black would be a good color for the IBEX Camaro chassis. I'm going to mount most of the electronics on the tray behind the motor and tranny. It should have a pretty low COG. You can just see the bottom of the servo behind the front axle. Mounted the spare as low as I could get it. You can see the fans and radiator resting in front of the spare, just inside of the cockpit. It feels like it is comming together the way I wanted. I kind of wanted to do a one of a kind, and not copy someone elses idea. Last edited by CODYBOY; 09-18-2015 at 10:25 AM. |

I'm getting there JOE, being an old fart I don't move as fast as I use to!!! All the panels are a thin alum, so the dints and dings should show up better. Done painting so now I just need to locate all the hole to be drilled in the panels. I installed a light bar where the grill goes, looks pretty good. |

I finished up mounting a 4" vp light bar under the hood and two 5mm LEDs in the headlights. Also drilled all the body panels and attached to the chassis. I need to work on my lower links a little! Painted the cockpit and driver. Last edited by CODYBOY; 09-20-2015 at 09:41 PM. |

Looks awesome. I see what you mean about the links. I try to run my lower links parallel to the ground. You may need to lift that thing up a little.

Turned out awesome, color combo is killer. Looks like a little tweaking on the font geometry and your hooked up!

Thanks guys, I think I'll mount the runnimg gear next, and see if my MIP shafts are going to work. After that the links and geometry will be fixed. In the meantime the postman brought me a package from RPP. Researched a little for tires, something a little new and settled on these. The price is good and Cory said they are working pretty good. I ran J-Concept tires a few years back when I was offroading, so I know they make a good product. 1.9 Scorpios mounted on 2.2 Methods. Last edited by CODYBOY; 09-23-2015 at 10:02 PM. |

That is one sweet build. It makes the iBex I just built look like scrap out of the junk yard.
