| Codyboys IBEX CAMARO, I think!!!!!
OK, I know that in real life a ibex is a goat, so this is going to be a go fast climbing Camaro ( I hope ). I'm starting with a Camaro hard body and Harley's cad drawings of his IBEX GOAT. I'm going with his drawings and moddifing them to fit the camero body. So I think I can call it a IBEX Camaro. I reduced the drawings so they are closer to 1/10th scale ( about a 13" wheel base. So.........here we go!!! I narrowed the body on the band saw. I cut out the grill/headlights and quarter panels. Now, let the cutting, bending, and soldering begin!!! All of this section of building is Stainless Steel rod, this is the part of the chassis that will take the most beating. I can't wait to see what the camaro roof line will look like on this! The body panels that I plan on using in the build. Tried something a little different with the rear shock mounts. I slotted 1/4" tubing and used some RC BRO'S builder tabs in the slots, and used the brazing rod to make sure everything was lined up and square. Last edited by CODYBOY; 08-05-2015 at 01:19 PM. |

| Re: Codyboys IBEX CAMARO, I think!!!!! Thanks DaddyJeep, at 66, these builds are a way for me to challenge my brain and dexterity. Kind of like brain games. The last couple days I've been working on narrowing the front and rear axles 1/2" and 3/4". I will post up some pics of some brass beef tubes and what they started life as? |

So, I wanted to narrow my VP AR60 axles. I have read in some threads on here how to do it, but have never done it myself. I also wanted to add a little weight to each of them. Here is what I came up with for beef tubes and rear lock out mounts. Recycled brass sprinkler heads. If you have looked at some of my other builds you have read that I like to repurpse building materials. I found the sprinkler heads at my favorite recycle yard for $2.00 apiece. I still need to figure out how to use the heads for weights. Shortened the rear axles and front unis. Shortened both front a rear housings. Finished product, front is 1/2" narrower and rear is 3/4" narrower. Last edited by CODYBOY; 08-06-2015 at 04:20 PM. |

Arcountryboy wanted to see my set up for doing my tube work with Safety Silv 56, so I thought I would post here for all to see. You don't have to have a expensive set up to do this. Uniweld torch I think between $120 to $150 and the B tank of acetylene I have no idea, I bought mine 40 years ago. You don't need a oxygen tank! |

Managed to get a few things done yesterday and today. I rebuilt the lower bars on both the front and rear to give me a little more travel . Figured out the placement for the front shocks and built mounts. Built mounts for the skid and got it mounted. Next I worked on fitting the camaro hood and grill. They have both been narrowed. Also made a bigger air induction scoop for the hood. I really like the view from the front. It looks mean! More later Last edited by CODYBOY; 08-10-2015 at 05:02 PM. |

OK, it has been a little while, so I thought I would do an update. I mounted my 1.9 growlers on some VP 2.2 wheels, and made some closed cell inserts to add with the original outer foam. Sorry, this isn't a very good photo! I made up some titainium links (a thanks to Kelly Lunsford for the links) and set the wheel base at 13". I made a front axle links mount and put the servo behind the axle. I think I have the servo high enough that it shouldn't hit anything. And of course one of DLUX's rear truss link mount. Here's an outside shot. More later. Last edited by CODYBOY; 08-16-2015 at 08:36 PM. |

Thanks Yonzariq! So, besides my Twin Hammer this is my first go fast crawler/ trail runner build. I 'm trying to keep the COG low and I'm having trouble desiding on shock length. I want to run 93mm at about 3/4 droop. That would put my skid at about 2" and at full extention close to 3 1/4". Is this to low for rock racing? I also want to be able to do some crawling with it. Any suggestions or help out there? Last edited by CODYBOY; 08-17-2015 at 09:16 PM. |

As long as your skid is flat and smooth I think you should be fine. It will slide over obstacles. I am no expert, but those are my thoughts. I am getting hung up on the lower link mounts on mine because they are below the skid. As long as the link mounts don't hit the obstacle is slides over nicely.
