That's a little more like it. Still boring though.

Okay last one for now. Starting to play with the lines to get a feel for how I want the cab to take shape. The B pillar is leaned back at a 10 degree angle, which is common on pretty much every car I've built this year.

What stops the carbon fibre pieces moving on the axle tube?

You going to draw the entire cage in 3D? If so we should start working on a design for that tube notcher we discussed a while back. F'ing parts guys...

Everything will get epoxied onto the axle tubes. If this doesn't hold up I will draw up a full width truss to tie everything together.

This ought to make modeling axle tabs and parts a little easier. No, its not perfect; but it will work for what I need it to do.

Thanks Eddie. I am loving the CAD side of this project, it lets me explore different ideas without actually building everything.

There is a part of me that wants to start throwing ti rod at these parts and pieces, but I just can't help myself when it comes to modeling all of these little parts and pieces. I am tired of sacrificing performance for parts that are a little easier to use simply because I don't want to take the time to build them properly. This is a prime example:

I could make this work, but it isn't anywhere close to what I have drawn up and it would kill me to hack it together. Sooo, I went a little deeper down the rabbit hole and modeled the front axle. Knuckles and universal shafts will come later when I feel up to the challenge

Here is a shot comparing the two short side tubes I have. The top tube is a normal short side wraith, and the bottom tube is a front XR tube. There's hardly enough room on the XR tube as it is, there's no way I would have been able to make a wraith short side work at all.

Had to decide on all of the travel numbers to figure out where the axles end up at full bump. This will give me a template for the lower frame rails and make it very easy to bend them accurately.

Get ready for another one... Top Shelf needs repairs and I have been instructed to mail it to Colorado's one and only The Crawl Space.
