Thanks! It is getting pretty once again but that'll probably not last long

Well here is the chassis fully painted

Next I wanted to smooth out the beadlocks so I got some 2MM flat head screws and countersunk the locks

then took the original inner ring, stripped it and painted it the color of the chassis and secured them with 2mm button head screws

Then I painted and assembled the rest of the truck minus the panels

up next, the new body!

Looks great, can't wait to see the body. Wish I had the fab skills you have.

Nice crawler. At the beginning of your thread, you were talking about stripping the anodizing. I use kitchen drano. Works awesome. I stripped my Baja with it, then I used a scotch brite to give it the brushed aluminum look.

I will go into detail on how I did the body panels later but for now...

ITS DONE!

Here is is with most of the panels in place ready for the final step in paint after I put on some strait black.

Then I laid on some masking tape, drew some flames and cut them out

the flames are "ghost" style so in indirect light they are almost invisible

and in direct light (in this case with the flash) they pop out

Here it is with the clear coat on,plus I finally got the roof and rear tail gate added along with a dash. I'll just let the pics do the talking

This Toy came out fantastic... I would love to see/know how well it does in comps though. I would imagine it is so top heavy..?

Been watching your build for some time. Very nice and original. The only problems that I can see are that your nose and tail are extended too far. They will interfear with your vertical approach and hang-up on the rear. Nice build though...:-P:-P

Top Build!!

I'm Itching to know how you did the body... if i ever get round to getting my build going i will be needing to build my body. And Ali is going to look far nicer than styrene when dented.

Actually it's surprisingly stable. I ran at one comp already and numerous times on my own and had no more problems on side hills and climbs than any body else.

Actually it's not bad at all. If you look in this pic you'll see the body ends slightly in front of the tires and the stinger in front is shorter and higher than in this pic

I haven't had any issues so far with testing it.

Sweet work, and the aluminum panels are outstanding! What thickness are they? Did I miss it in the thread?
