I'll toss on a 24T on my scaler on a 3S and run the logger on it to see what I can come up with for an amp draw. That way we'll have a better Idea of what's needed. Jason |

Ok guys I went out and ran the X-trail for a few minutes. Grass is wet and the Mashers were slidding all over the place with a 3S 25C 4200mAH pack. I geared it 24/87 and hit a peak of 80 amps. So even at 25C an 1100 isn't gonna cut it, a 2200 25C pack as they are rated at 55 amps would be better suited but with the possibilty of high peaks at time there is a risk. The problem is your setting a crawler up to run on a Buggy power system. Which is fine and fun but the crawlers need the weight down low and don't have the space required for a regular car pack that can handle these loads our 4000 cells would be the minimum in this range. I will still continue to work on higher C rated smaller packs as we do need them for the regular crawlers. But right now we are kinda stuck at this point. Bender the dimensions of our 3S 2200 25C pack are as follows Length= 99mm Width= 34mm and thickness= 24mm. See if that can be worked into the rig some how. Here's what the X-trail does on a 27 turn motor with 24/87 gearing on a 3S 4200 25C MaxAmps pack. Jason Last edited by JAM MaxAmps.com; 06-05-2008 at 09:28 AM. |

Welcome to my world Jason, there is never enough room in a crawler for the power that I want! Awesome Data! Your 25C pack hit below LVC at 19C by the way. |

Would A123 cells meet the current requirements? "It has a capacity of 2300mAh, and is capable of 30C (69A) continuous discharges and 60C (138A) pulse (10 second) discharges." |

Funny I don't see that in the Graph of the voltage from the run it clearly shows the low point and the high point just below the graph. And LVC for a 3S pack is 9 volts. Here's the graphs with the voltage only in the last one. Oh and to get the 80 amp spike is was doing donuts on my deck. The wet TREX decking is really slippery. Attached Thumbnails |

| Quote: That's about the same cell range a few of the local Colorado guys were suggesting too. I think I could use a pack with those dimensions and let the back of it sit over the upper links without any issues. |

Yes the A123 would but size is something to deal with and then voltage change is different from Li-Po's. Jason |

My bad, 11v LVC was stuck in my head. I need to wake up better Donuts on the deck = awesome! How much wheelspeed were you getting? |

Quite a bit. I have Losi stock foams shoved in the M3 Mashers and they just ballon a bit. There pretty stiff on the side walls so if I turn to sharp at speed my little Rubicon rolls over and over and over like a true jeep. Jason | |

Ordered some red anodized goodies from Axial for the rock racer. Upgraded to aluminum upper and lower links, new and improved steering servo, steering links, rock rings, and a bunch of the red anodized spacers/standoffs. Since I lowered the ride height, the HC rear links wanted to hit the shocks when I tried to install them. So, I moved the links outside the axle mounts and everything clears fine. I need to find some shorter screws, but this will work for now. Also got one of the new XC-1 bodies. |

if you are still searching for some high discharge lipo packs www.apogeepacks.com has 1000mah lithium maganese packs w a 20c discharge rate. I was using them in my 1/18 scale racers and they are awesome for crawling/rock racing too... |

| I am convinced that Bender would bet the hell out of me crawling even if he was driving a touring car.

| How about the small receiver cells from A123. I am playing around with a beer can 6-pack style 3C design and 4-pack stacked pack setups which should fit perfect and net a 9.9V pack or 13.2V 4S setup. I am thinking drop an A123 2S pack on each side of the rear axle and you get both ultra-light weight, no worries about current draw, and plenty of voltage. |
