hey bob.........i was lookin at your build parts and noticed you have the axial cvd's, the pins dont last long at all! i snapped one 4th time out on a 6cell. after that i went back to the dogbone setup.

i saw your thread on electric too! you will like the 606i......i have that same charger and it is awesome!!

let us know when you have that badboy done.you will probably want to play with shock springs too as i found the losi whites way too soft! im runnin reds/greys

i'm gonna replace them axial CVD pins with a hardened steel wire or drill bit steel....i don't think they are anything but plain steel that axial puts in there CVD kits..............bob

i was able to get some more work done on my crawler, other then clearing 12" of snow from my 75 foot driveway....making up the steering servo mounts and plate, i left room behind the servo for upper link mounting holes....

i'm also gonna try a BTA set up, here's the front of axle rod and the BTA rod....i still have to thread the ends of the BTA rod yet....

how are some of you guys running BTA clearing the shock mounts on the diff....as ya can see in my pic's there might be an issue....

since i'm going to use the inner hole i'm gonna grind off the outter hole to gain some clearence for steering....

i also got some skid plates cut to different sizes to see what works best on my rig....

oh yeah can't ferget my third hand for soldering junk together....

stay tuned for updates when i get my baby shark tube bender and start the frame work ..................bob

got the skid plate done but couldn't dril any holes to mount it to the tube frame since i can't start the frame yet....i went with a 2 1/2"W x 3"L skid so that i had enough room for the tranny to fit on it good.............bob

did a little more of the small junk i can till the tube bending starts....cut out the frame drawing and laid it over the drivetrain to get a size of the rig....

those cougars look nice on the DH comp's in orange....

can't forget the traxxas driveshafts and steel yokes....

plus i'm doing my part for recycling using the handle for links and the lid for body panels from the cat litter container....

i also enlarged the frame drawings a bit to look more scale to the tires and not look to small....added an inch on the nose to tail length and a half inch to the height, then kinda stretched the nose and tail sections into proportion with the over all look....still need to edit and upload those pictures, thx fer looking ..................bob

I don't know how I missed this thread until now Bob, but this is a GREAT example of how to go about preparing for a build boys and girls. Read and search and PM.
Nice bunch of parts you've accumulated there Bob, looking forward to your finished rig

did some lower link work after i made a wheel base jig to hold my wheel base at 12 3/8"....

i also threaded and bent up the handle from the cat litter pail into steering link to get it up and high....

made up some jack stands to hold my pinion angle from the plastic pail lid....

used the same pail handle and made up the lower links, i'm running one inch shorter links in the rear....

used what ever i had on hand and came up with 3 rolls of eletrical tape and 1/4" dowels to hold the skid plate at 2 1/2" ride height....now just need the baby shark to get some tight bends, i'm going to use only three lenghts of brake line to make the tube frame to save a bunch of joints to braze................bob
