Default Disgusted.

I am so disgusted with my axial, i try to follow everyones good ideas on here and it never work right, i went out yesterday and it doesnt seem like its got the flex that everyone else on here has, maybe its just me, im gonna post up some pics of my setup and can some of you guys maybe tell me what im goin wrong, or how to make it better, more flex and more traction?

Specs:
Axial ARTR
Rear Foams Cut with hammers and weight
Front Memfoam
The rest you can see.

I hate to sound whiny but there is some money invested in this and id like it to work, you know?

pics dont really show anything. the suspension guys are gonna want to see side shots showing where the links are mounted and their angle.also looks like you mad your own 4link mount, show a better shot of that too.

are you trying to get more flex(if so why) or control it better? having problems with torque twist? ect...

My tourqe twist is ok, fixed that with the 4link, it just seems stiff to me, wont articulate, not necesarily looking for more travel just smoother travel.

Stock shocks with soft springs, not sure on the weight of the oil

Go back through thread and find some older stock axial set-up or builds. The stock springs are "WAY" stiff and too long. Limit the travel(i originaly put the black exterior limitors under the piston to limit the length) White Losi spring in frt/and rt rear. Can use stocker and heavier oil in lft rear.

look around and see what others are doing, you'll have to go back prob to find stock set-ups. Have fun, takes a while to get it right

cleaning your tires will help with traction,,,, hammer are not that good unless you cut the foams a little (u shape the outside)

What exactly are you really trying to accomplish with your rig? Are you going to do competitions, trail runs, weekend bashing at the quarry, out crawling your neighbor?

I have soft (white) springs front and rear, with the limiters inside.

It looks like your ESC and wires will hit your chassis stay if it tries to flex or articulate.

Is your antenna wire tightly wound on that chassis brace?

i had close to the same prob!

what i see is the following:
rear axle, is clocked upwards WAY too much, the drive shaft pinion is pointing upward a long way. you want your pinion angle to point slight up, but only by a couple of degree's.
the rear four link upper's are not equal (square to the axle)
this will make it walk to one side)
on the rear links the ant. wire is rapped too tight on the cross brace.
and also on the four link.. upper links where the attatch to the frame. need to remove the orange spacer's

Same with the front pinion, it does not look nearly as bad as the front,

just my .02 cents, as i too had very close to the same issues...

the 4link looks messed up but i could be wrong...the uppers look like they bind and are too long. , get softer springs, and that antenna wire shouldnt be like that

Your pinion angle on the rear is a little much, try to shorten the upper links just a hair.

As far as your 4-link set up...... the rear upper links look good. The front upper links need to be more parrallell to the ground instead of angled downward like the lower links. The key to a good 4-link set up is to keep your upper links as flat and parallell to the ground as possible. Your lower links can and need to be angled like that but it is not a good idea for the uppers. And also change your springs to some losi white and yellows, that will help out alot also.

I couldnt find the thread but someone did a killer write up on squat and anti-squat and also 4-link set ups. It is a long lengthy thread but well worth the read. It confused me a lil bit at first until I started playin with different set ups.

All of the suspension tech on these things are all about trial and error and driver preferance. You can get it damn close to perfect the first try, but there is always room for improvement. If you need more mounting points for links or shocks..... drill new holes.

you might make sure that those zip ties on the top links are loose too. that can limit it as well. and the shorten the top links is great advice as well. hope that helps.

Ok, fixed the antenna wire, noob mistake, im thinking if i remove the orange spacers from the 4 link it will bid because the links are too close to the chassis, and i do see now that the links lengthwise are slightly different on the axle. do you guys think i should just do away witht he 4-link altogether? any other options?
