Delrin lower links are only better when they are super thick (so they wont bend under heavy loads) and shafties don't have a lot of room for huge links. The links that come with the GC-3 kit are super smooth on the rocks and durable

Default a question...

Looks killer.
I am wanting to do a rock racer build for my next AX10.
The stock chassis rolls alot under heavy throttle.
But it looks like this chassis would handle moderate speed really well.
Also, it looks durable enough to handle some abuse.

Any thoughts J?
Do you think it would make a good rock racer?

How's the room for the dig? can you use different front servo plates? I have my battery on my servo plate, so i'm curious where the battery is supposed to go on this chassis. I have the axial bta kit also, does it work with that as well?

I think it would do very well as a "rock racer."
I believe Austin is setting up a GC3 for rock racing also.

There is plenty of room for a dig. I am using the Vanquish dig unit. I've tried both the full size servo mount and the mini servo mount with no issues.
You can change the servo plate, but you will need to modify it to have the same link mounting geometry as the GC3 servo plate.
I mount my battery on the upper links. I've included a pic of my truck that shows my battery mounted.
I tried mounting up the Axial BTA and it is not a direct fit. I have not had a chance to modify it to see how much work it takes.

Gatekeeper is being sold under the Duratrax name. This is the same as the mini GC3. This allows Austin to concentrate on new products instead of having everything made, distributing it and then supporting it. Duratrax now handles all of that. It allows larger quantities to be produced at one time to make the product more easily available. Its a win win situration. It opens up alot of possibilities for the Gatekeeper line.

This is great news Way to go Austin (gatekeeper). You deserve it and it couldn't happen to a better guy. Your chassis designs were always the best performing for me from the GC1 and GC2. This looks exciting.

That's a great pic J ! Chassis looks more rigid with the same great link geometry. Great work from Gatekeeper designs and Duratrax to bring this to the crawling public.

What changes or advantages are there from the GC2 (besides name and availability).

It's aluminum instead of Delrin so it's more durable and it's a more complete kit.The GC2 did not come with links and hardware.

Pics of GC-2 and new GC-3A parts layout attached.

The GC3 is based off of the GC2 but there are several substantial changes.
The biggest change is that the GC3 is a FULL conversion. You get everything you need to convert your AX10 chassis to the GC3.
-The link geometry is slightly different.
-The delrin skid plate is re-designed and now covers the bottoms of the chassis side plates to reduce drag.
-The chassis includes links. All aluminum, and the rear are bent 20 deg.
-The chassis side plates are aluminum now, used to be delrin. More rigid and more durable.
-There are upper shock mount stand offs included now. Before you had to figure it out on your own.
-High quality metric hex hardware.
-Includes rod ends and balls
-Re-designed front and rear axle plates. (Eliminated un-used holes to help eliminate confusion)
-GC3 includes stand offs for the rear upper links at the axle plate so you dont have to buy Tamiya parts to make it work

there doesn't appear to be much triangulation in the upper links....

not that i am questioning this design, if i am not mistaken, i believe that this chassis won the national championship a couple of years ago....

A type of motor that is typically a bit longer.....usually around 2.5" from mounting surface to the edge of the endbell.

It's a special motor used in a "male release device" invented by a famed doctor-Dr. John Rob Holmes. The device was used by double arm amputees for making their lives more "fufilling". It can be found in most medical supply stores. It's very strong and long lasting, perfect for use in crawlers.
