Default Rottenbellys bolt on bomber build.

Not going to be alot of fab on this rig. Mostly bolt on and go. I will build my own link out of delrin later. My bomber should be here in a few days so the prefab has begun.

Electronics.
Holmes Hobbies trailmaster BLE pro esc.
Holmes hobbies Puller pro 540 3500kv.
Castle bec.
Hitec 7950 for the steering and will use the stock servo for shifting duties.

Axles will be Vanquish curries with the centered rear in black.
Fast eddie bearing.
Vanquish VVD's.
Vanquish steering bushings.
Vanquish stage one kit and tierod.
Gripfab lockers and OD/UD Axial gears.
MIP rear yeti driveshaft for centered axle clearance.

I will be using the Axial 2 speed kit. Out here there is lots of crawling and U4 racing.
Trailing arms are UC fab from Dlux. Rear swaybar to be decided on still.

Wheels are from Locked Up Rc.
2.2 Recluse SLW with Tarantula rings and Scale hubs.
Tires are 2.2 silver compound Voodoo's with none other than Crawler Innovation foams.
Got the first tire and wheels together today.

Going to work on assembling the curries tomorrow.

Which CI foams are you using with the VooDoos?

I am going to try the Double deuce 6.0 with the standard inner and soft outer to start. Then see if I need to make changes. I will be doing more crawling than racing.

Thank for the reply. I'm looking into getting a set of the VooDoos as well. I'm still in research mode as far as foams to pair with them. I'm sure they'll end up being CI foam, but still trying to wrap my head around what will be best for me.

Not much progress today. Feeling sick and its been snowing all day so its cold in the garage.
Got the axles together and wheels and tires mounted.
Bomber should be here tomorrow so I can tear into it!

I figure if I run into clearance issues too bad I can just get the new axle tubes and offset it. But I would rather have it centered, I hope.

Got the 2 speed and HD motor plate in. Axles are mocked up and just have to clean up the electronics a little. Dlux fab links and trailing arms.

Are you seeing any issues with the MIP driveshaft and the centered pumpkin Currie axle? The issue seems to be the driveshaft is getting really close to the spur gear cover on the tranny at full suspension compression.
I'm getting ready to buy a set of Currie axles for my upcoming Bomber build.

It just barely touches the spur cover at full compression. Not enough that I think it will ever be a problem.

I wonder if I could maybe Dremel out a small spot on the spur cover?

Probably. The way mine is set up it wouldn't take much to make it clear.

Very nice build, love the wheels. I wish I could've kept my centered Currie but it just didn't work out. I'm running shorter Traxxas big bore shocks all around for lower COG and I was just making too much contact with compression or flex. I couldn't get my pinion angle ideal either so I ended up going with the offset rear Currie to get everything perfect. The good news is I've got an extra Currie now that gets to go on something else.

That's what I'm afraid of. I would hate to spend the extra on a centered Currie, then find out that it's not gonna work! Then, have to spend more money to buy a set of tubes to make the centered Currie into an offset.
I'm gonna run ProLine Powerstroke shocks (rear Slash) on the front and rear. From what I've researched, the ProLine Powerstrokes are a tad shorter than the stock shocks.

I love the look of the centered Currie on the bomber, though!! LOL!!

Got the VP light bar and KOH lights wired up. Need a HeyOK controller to make them flash now. Also tried to paint the fuel cell. One of those 10 ft paint jobs....

Yup that looks great! That 1" VP light bar looks plenty bright. I might have to upgrade mine. How did you mount the rear light bar?

It's the yeti rear bar. I cut the back lip off the roof. Then I drilled 2 holes where the stock rear roof holes are for mounting.

I am getting my Bomber back together after adding the SSD 2 speed. Hom much affect do you think the 2 speed has on the low end for crawling? Outstanding build on your Bomber. I hope mine will be as impressive. Thanks for sharing.
