I had a whole video shot and realized I had the microphone off. Idiot.

The good news is, this truck is so much fun. I made it go through some pretty tough gates at the KNK TTC comp and I had an absolute blast doing it. Nothing broke, failed or had me guessing. Tons of low end, nice punch, great balance front to back (when i didn't flip it, which I did a number of times...). Hit a few gates, and certainly not winning anything, but man oh man a little tuning and possibly putting the swaybar back on, and I think this could be a winner.

Much thanks to MJDerstine from SuperShafty and Dan from Vanquish for helping me through the steel rebar/stump challenge. On to the Mud Pit!

Did great in the sled pull today and failed at the hill climb, but that's most likely user error.

The rig looked killer out there and performed well! There was a bit of a funny smell though does it have a gas motor?

Thanks man, yeah, totally a gas motor.

22nd place of 56 isn't so bad overall. My hill climb score kind of blew it for me. Hitting the first gate doesn't do much...

Definitely going to need to revise my spur/pinion setup. Gobs of torque, but not a huge amount of top speed. 12T Pinion/56T Spur didn't do it for me. Any suggestions?

I have 2 different setups running a Puller Pro 3500 on 3S: one has F/R underdrive gears, SSD 2 speed in the stock trans with a 64T spur and the other has standard HD gears and a SCX10 trans with a 56T spur.

While the setups are quite different, the overall gear reduction in both ends up right around 30:1. That would be my suggested starting point for a good mix of wheel speed and torque.

I run 16/56 with my 3500XL. Plenty if wheel speed for me.

Nice build but ummm... Axial sends you all this stuff for free and you end up using none of it?

I've got a whole other Bomber build using all of it, not to worry! I treated this build as an evolution from mild RTR to wild custom.

I probably mentioned it earlier on in the build, but these are SuperShafty "Prang" 2.2 Bead Locks with a custom color combination.

Wow, back from the dead! With Comp season rapidly approaching, it was time to clean up the Bomber and make some adjustments. I spent a lot of time this weekend removing lugs from the 2.2 Growler's. Hence, my latest accessory:

I followed the Crawler Innovations pattern for siping the Growler and I'm happy with the results.

Ive been debating cutting my 2.2 growlers on my bomber, but im scared i wont like them and i will have ruined the tires. Anymore pics of the tires cut? And hows the performance gain?

I haven't tried them yet, but I'm assuming I'm not the first to do CI's cut method. All you're doing is effectively giving the remaining lugs much wider spacing, which is going to give you more grip. Sometimes, function has to trump form. And since I did an amateur's job of siping, it shows in the photos. But I'm keen to give them a go. I know where the benchmark is based on last year, so I should be able to definitively say if this was a good idea or not.

Worst case scenario, I've got a set of Rock Beasts in 2.2 that will fill the void.

Hey Matt,

Awesome build! I’m actually building one myself and was wondering how you ended up mounting your battery?
