We are working on adding that combo to the site. In the mean time a customer can purchase a set of 6.5mm bullets and the "soldering labor" and we do the work.

Castle 6.5mm Bullet Connectors - 3 pack - Wiring & Wiring Accessories - Electronics & Wiring
General Component Soldering - Service & Labor

Decided to swap in a 21t titan 550 I had in my box of spares. Very impressed for a free upgrade. Much more speed and doesn't seem to have lost any torque. Stock 12t pinion crawls every bit as good as the 35t did and now I can launch it up some rock bouncer lines that the stock motor just didn't have the wheel speed for. 3s 5200mah 50c lipo. I also moved the right rear upper to the top hole at the chassis and that made a huge difference in torque twist.

After building a CC-01 I want to build something else, something faster but still able to crawl a bit :P
So my choice fell on the Bomber kit.

I was thinking of a HobbyWing XeRun 120A V3.1 ESC combined with a XeRun V10 G2 3800KV sensored motor, would this be a good setup for the Bomber?

Update. Got a HH PP 2700KV putting down the traction now. I'm still tinkering with the perfect gearing on 3s lipo. Right now I'm leaning towards 10/64 so it'll crawl real nice but should be insane on 4s power. Don't have any 4s batteries yet so some gearing may change as play around with it. Stoked stoked on the new power plant.

I'm running a CC Sidewinder 8th scale ESC and a CC 2200KV motor with an Axial Racing 2 speed. Tons of Torque and wheel speed yet not a bit of cogging when crawling.

I run a Holmes 3500 XL in my regular Bomber and a Pro4 3300kv in my B1B Bomber. Both run BLE Pro waterproof ESC's. Any of the 4-pole SCT motors will be great. It all depends how fast you want go with what voltage to determine the kv ratings.

We put up a combo with the MMX now. It includes installation of 6.5mm bullets onto whatever motor is chosen.

Is the Pro4 HD 3000kv still considered an all around good bomber motor? Regardless if it is or isn't I ordered one today so I can finally drive my bomber kit. MMP with 2 and 3 cell lipo. As of now my only 5mm pinion is a 12t so its gonna be geared stock.

depends on the day, some says a roc 412 3100kv, on wet days the HH 3500 XL. I have an issue.. I prefer to throttle out then let a rock win.

Ordered a Bomber kit last night, with the new Futaba 3PV and an Axial servo horn. Don't plan on racing - Just trail running, some light-to-medium level crawling, and mild bashing - Dusty and loose terrain.

Question related to thread - Have joined HH's site and am about to order a Puller Pro Combo including a Mamba Monster X - And also the new SHV500 servo. No BEC is needed for that servo - Plan is to run 3s LiPo only.

Which motor choice for decent speed? 15-20+mph max - Without destroying too many drivetrain parts? HH is sold out of my first choice (again!) - The 3500kv Standard Puller Pro.

I am leaning towards the 3300kv Stubby - Could go with 2700kv Standard, 4500kv Standard, or even the 2100kv XL - gearing as needed for Volt up, Gear down! Stock gearing if it works.

Again - Don't want too much power, running just the upgraded drivetrain parts that comes with the kit version versus the RTR. Not planning on adding a 2speed or too much weight in the near future.

Any feedback is welcomed and help choosing motor is appreciated - Upgrading parts as they break, trying to keep that to a minimum...

Not racing, only picking from Holmes Hobbies. Thanks, though!

*** Edit

HH support just emailed me back from yesterday - said a Stubby isn't necessarily the best choice for a Bomber - drag brake and power are less than optimal for it's size.

With 3500kv Standards 3+ weeks out, what about a 540 XL 2100kv? Is the lower kv rating OK because it's a bigger can?

Or the last real remaining choice, 2700kv Standard... thought I read John recommending no lower than 3300kv for the Bomber, 4500kv is really only recommended on 2S (a no-go for me).

Need to order today, if possible - have a 4.5 day weekend coming up this week. Hope to complete build.

I would just run an inexpensive motor for now and wait for the 3500KV PP.
It is what I run in my Bomber, and I think it is just about perfect for mixed use. I can go fast and I can crawl nicely.

I'm with Sammy. I have a 3500XL in my Bomber and a pro4 3300 in my B1B. To make a long story short. I will be buying another 3500XL when they are back in stock. The pro4 3500HD is also very nice (have one in my Yeti) but I like the support Holmes gives on this site. It's not hard to change the motor out.

Thanks guys, for the input. Can't afford picking up a cheap one just for 3 weeks or so, but don't want a less-than optimal HH motor (for the Bomber) either.

I'll wait until they are back in stock, take my time with the build, then order the 3500kv combo. I haven't built anything except a half-dozen different Tamiya on-roads, and that was more than 7yrs ago.

I have stripped and rebuilt multiple Team Associated (electric and nitro) off-roads, Losi's, and Traxxas' (including T-Maxx and E-Maxx) back then - but they were either bought used already built or as RTRs.

They are all long gone. The parts I am buying or have already bought in the last 2 days include a charger and LiPos (my first) - so I will be at about $850-900 total.

Gotta chill on spending now!

Can't win for losing - I ordered from HH a little while ago - then I saw my ordered products after paying - and SOMEHOW (!) I ordered the 2200kv Standard instead of the 2700kv!

I immediately called HH, left a message - and sent an email requesting the order be edited.... no response, then got the automated email saying it was shipped........... Man, I feel like an idiot.

I wanted a 3500kv, settled for the 2700kv, and then stupidly am getting the 2200kv. Yeesh.

On the plus side, I think I got the very last SHV500 available - said 1 left when I ordered, and now it shows in my order - hopefully it actually arrives and was not not back-ordered!

So, question - will HH allow me to send back the motor and send me the one I wanted?

Argh...

Hopefully it was just a label created for your shipment rather than it actually already shipped.

I took bomber for maiden voyage with the 3000kv Pro4 HD and MMP tonight and its so smoooooth! Brutal down low and cranks up top. I have no regrets. I can see heavy trigger finger causing scattered drivetrain parts.
