| Intro and setup questions
Hi all, I have been lurking and reading the forums, trying to figure out what I want to do. At the moment I have a Team Associated SC10, it's fun to bash, but admittedly it's on the fast side for me, it's pretty much stock and I know there are things to do with it, but the Bomber and it's apparent ability to do a little of both is appealing. We have a weekend place just east of the mountains up here in Washington and our property is prime for me to set up a course where I can let it run a bit and crawl too. I'm thinking I'd like the ratio to be around 60/40 to 70/30 bash to crawl, I don't need insane top speeds but it would be fun to crank it up now and again. I have listed items I was thinking to start with, I know there's a million ways to do it so I listed what I was looking at below. The big ones are I want to make sure I have the right motor (i'd like to go brushless sensored), esc and servo if I were to go with the 2 speed conversion. I'm open to being talked in or out of anything and thanks for the assistance, just reading through the forums has been eye opening to what you can do with these things. That's a great list! It's nice to see someone who has already done their homework and not blindly asking for opinions. Here's my 2 cents:

^agreed. sooo many times of seeing 'whats the best' i tend to just skip over those posts. definitely hold off on the 2 speed. i took it out of my bomber and put a wraith trans in it. simplifies the rig quite a bit and opens up alot of room. fwiw in almost every rig i own i run the same combo: hitec 79xx servo, mmp, castle bec, tekin pro4 3300, and a 3s 2200mah lipo. ive comp'd and ttc'd the crap out of that combo and it has never not been enough. tons of low end crawlability and wheelspeed when you need it. that said, i think the list you provided will get you a very nice setup. |

Thanks for the info so far guys, it's appreciated, I always try to do some homework before I just spew! So, no need for the the 2 speed for what I am doing, is the Tekin ROC or the Pro4 3300 the way for me to go? I will look at the Mamba Monster X, and thanks for the advice on the gearing, I had forgotten to ask, but wanted to know what would work best for what I'm wanting to do. On the VP SLW hubs, what size would I need? There's lots of choices: RC Accessories - 2.2 Beadlock Wheels - SLW Hubs - Vanquish Products Thanks again! |

I'm partial to Holmes' stuff but if it weren't available I'd get a ROC412. I got the SLW 350 for my kids' Bomber, you might want to go to the 475 for more stability when bashing. Better yet, get a set of the Shifts hubs and you can adjust the offset as needed. |

We just had a discussion on the Puller Pro 2200 and it seems ideal. You just need to choose your battery voltage accordingly. I put the comparisons for 2s-6s on a stock Bomber in post #5 there.

Are you looking at getting a RTR or kit?

| Re: Intro and setup questions You should definitely get the kit, which is what I had assumed. You're already getting the electronics, plus you get quite a few nice upgrades over the RTR, just check out my comparison chart.

In another thread, Holmes just posted that the 3500's should be on the site today for purchase. I'm waiting for one as well. The flexibility to run 2-6s does indeed sound fantastic but in reality, i'll be running 3s packs for the most part. I also have some 2s packs from my 1/16 summit that I may run so that's my reasoning for waiting on the 3500 from Holmes. I have the HV500 servo, its nice fast and quiet for sure. Quote:
You wouldn't need to pick up the swaybar and link kits right away. Last edited by calcagno45; 09-16-2016 at 03:36 PM.

Find a motor and voltage combo that works for you and if you want to give it a little kick just drop in anther cell.

I'm building mine with this new release Futaba 3PV radio tx/rx, I think it's a great compromise on price to performance: https://www.amainhobbies.com/futaba-...tk3201/p506146 |

^^^ Yeah, I've been waiting on this myself, ordered a 2200kv by mistake, only have 3S batteries... They said they'd replace it - it's never been even installed. Gotta mail it off on Monday!

Thanks for the heads up guys! So for those that went the direction of the kit, did you still replace the "upgraded" parts that came with it vs the RTR version?
